Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan Medical College and Hospital (DSMCH), Perambalur, is a prestigious medical college providing various undergraduate, postgraduate, and super-specialty courses. The college has a stringent admission procedure in place to identify the most capable students for its various medical courses. DSMCH is accredited by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and affiliated with the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai.
The admission process of DSMCH generally starts in the months of May-June for the August-September starting academic year. The college mainly admits students through national-level entrance exams, and different exams are necessary for different programs. For undergraduate courses, the admissions are on the basis of the scores obtained in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG).
For undergraduate courses, the minimum eligibility criteria are to have passed 10+2 from a known board with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as mandatory subjects. For postgraduate candidates, they should have passed their MBBS from a known university. Super-specialty candidates should have passed their MD/MS in the concerned specialization.
Application Process
The application procedure for DSMCH differs based on the course:
For MBBS program:
1. Qualify in the NEET-UG exam.
2. Get registered for state counseling (for Tamil Nadu state quota seats) or take part in the All India Quota counseling process.
3. Complete the application form for DSMCH during the counseling process.
4. If a seat is allotted, report to DSMCH for document verification and fee payment.
For MD/MS courses:
1. Qualify in the NEET-PG exam.
2. Enroll for state counseling (for Tamil Nadu state quota seats) or undergo the All India Quota counseling process.
3. Submit the application form for DSMCH during the counseling procedure.
4. If shortlisted, appear for any other selection procedures as needed by the college.
5. If selected, finalize the admission process at DSMCH.
For M.Ch/DM programs:
1. Pass the NEET-SS exam.
2. Register through the centralized counseling process for super-speciality courses.
3. If seated at DSMCH, appear at the college for document verification and admission.
For B.Sc Allied Health Science courses:
1. Apply directly to DSMCH or through the state's centralized admission system for allied health science courses.
2. Produce the necessary documents and application form.
3. Admission is usually on the basis of merit of the qualifying examination (10+2).
Degree wise Admission Process
B.Tech: DSMCH has an MBBS course with 250 seats. Admission is through NEET-UG marks. Aspirants should have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and passed NEET-UG to be eligible.
M.Tech: The college provides several MD and MS courses. Admissions are through NEET-PG marks. There are 37 seats available for MD courses and 25 seats available for MS courses in different specializations.
MBA: DSMCH does not provide an MBA course.
B.Des: The college has a number of B.Sc allied health science courses, such as Dialysis Technology, Critical Care Technology, Cardiac Technology, Medical Laboratory Technology, Operation Theatre and Anaesthesia Technology, Radiology and Imaging Technology, and Accident and Emergency Care Technology. Each course has 20 seats, and the admissions are merit-based on the last qualifying exam
M.Des: DSMCH does not have an M.Des course.
M.Sc: The institution does not run conventional M.Sc courses. Yet, it runs postgraduate medical degrees (MD/MS) in different fields.
PhD: Although particular PhD courses are not specified, DSMCH provides super-specialty courses such as M.Ch and DM, which are post-doctoral. These are M.Ch in Urology (3 seats), Plastic Surgery (2 seats), and Surgical Gastroenterology (2 seats), and DM in Cardiology (2 seats) and Neurology (2 seats). The admissions to these courses are on the basis of NEET-SS scores.
