Dhupguri Primary Teachers Training Institute is an independent institute situated in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal, which aims for training future teachers. This co-educational institution was founded in 2015 and is already considered one of the cornerstones of teacher training in the region. The institute occupies a tiny 1 acre of land and is dedicated for a specialized learning experience of the future primary school teachers. Boasting enrolment capacity of One Hundred students and faculty strength of nine, the institute is able to provide holistic care as well as best of academic offerings. This is so because the institute has been approved by the National Council for Teacher Education to ensure that it meets the laid down standards in the training of teachers.

In this case, the institute has effectively developed every facility that may provide a rich experience to the students. A modern equipped library is an informational center offering students an extensive list of educational materials. The presence of laboratories creates possibilities for an application of practices that are important for the formation of teaching skills. According to the institute’s IT facilities, learners are conversant with current learning technologies. For the general welfare and health of students, there is provision of sportsmanship as well as a health facility with first aid. More specifically, there are facilities for boys and girls hostels so that students from different provinces can be accorded decent accommodation.

The focus of Dhupguri Primary Teachers Training Institute is slender and contains only one major course – the Diploma in Elementary Education also known as the D.El.Ed course. The program is a two-year full time program that aims at producing qualified primary school teachers. This course has an approved intake of 50 students; the management of the institute maintains a reasonable student-teacher ratio for the course. Such a special focusing approach enables the institute to channel a lot of effort and competence in preparing quality primary school teachers.

The admission policy includes the score they got in the qualifying exam and/or an entrance test. The institute may also use other methods of staff selection as may be required by the government of West Bengal.
