Dr. Vellasamy Nadar College of Education, Thanjavur, one of the best colleges for teacher education courses. It is affiliated to Tamil Nadu Teacher Education University and is approved by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).  Dr Vellasamy Nadar College of Education selects eligible candidates into teacher education courses through its admission processes, which considers the score in the qualifying examination and entrance examination, if any. With regard to this policy, those with good achievements and those who demonstrate their aptitude for teaching are taken by the college. The admissions take place every year generally according to the academic calendar of Tamil Nadu Teacher Education University, with intakes usually occurring around July-August.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Ed (Bachelor of Education): At Dr. Vellasamy Nadar College of Educfation, the approved intake for the B.Ed course is 100 seats. Admission to the B.Ed program is based on merit and the university and state government policies regarding the marks obtained by the candidates in the qualifying examination and/or entrance examination. The program aims at preparing students for successful teaching and enhancing their abilities for success in this career. 

B.El.Ed (Bachelor of Elementary Education): The college offers a B.El.Ed program through which it has an approved intake of 50 seats. However, admission information regarding this program is not provided; it can be assumed that admission to this program follows similar criteria as that of the B.Ed in that admission will be based on academic performance in the qualifying examination and any relevant entrance tests.
