Gitabai Dattatray Mahajan Arts, Shri Kesharimal Rajmal Navalakha Commerce and Manoharseth Dhariwal Science College, Jamner (GDMACS) is an old institution which conducts a wide variety of undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
The admission cycle at GDMACS generally falls in sync with the academic calendar of its associated university. Even though the exact dates may vary from year to year, admissions typically start in the months following the announcement of 12th standard results for undergraduate courses and after graduation results for postgraduate courses. The college provides 11 courses under 8 degree programs for different kinds of academic interests.
For undergraduate admissions, students who have successfully completed their 10+2 education from a recognized board are eligible to apply. The basic eligibility criterion for most undergraduate programs is a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in the qualifying examination. For postgraduate courses, candidates must have completed their bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline from a recognized university. Some courses, however, may have other eligibility criteria or selection procedures which are conveyed to the applicants at the time of admission.
Application Process
The process for the application for GDMACS is very simple and easy for all the eligible applicants. Here is the step-by-step application process:
1. Advertisement: The college makes notice in the local newspapers, official website, and notice boards for admissions. The interested students need to make periodic visits to these sources.
2. Application Form: The application form can be obtained from the college office or downloaded from the official website.
3. Filling of application form: Fill up the application form with all your personal and academic details correctly. Make sure all the fields which are required are filled in.
4. Attachment of documents: Attach all the documents that are mentioned in the application form. Normally, these would include:
- Passport size photographs
- Mark sheets of qualifying examinations, 10th, 12th for UG courses; Bachelor's degree for PG courses
- Transfer certificate from the previous institution
- Caste certificate if applicable
- Any other certificates or documents as required by the college
5. Submission: Submit the filled-in application form along with all other required documents to the college admission office before the specified deadline.
6. Application Fee: The application fee is payable as mentioned in the prospectus. The payment will be either by cash, demand draft or online; it depends on the college.
7. Verification: Applications and documents from the applicants are verified by the college admission committee.
8. Merit List: After verifying the eligibility of applicants and seat available, the college develops and publishes merit lists against each course.
9. Counseling and Admission: The list of selected students can be put up for a counseling session at which they get their preferred course basis their merit position and seat.
10. Fee Payment : After the selection, the applicants have to remit the seat acceptance fee after specified periods of time during which the college confirms the selected admission.
11. Documents Verification: Just before the college confirms the student's admission; it verifies once again all its documents.
Degree wise Admission Process
BA: It offers the highest intake with 480 seats at GDMACS. Admission takes place strictly on marks obtained in 12th standard based on relevant subjects to specialization opted.
B.Com: This B.Com offers an intake of 271. Admissions to the course take place strictly based on marks secured at 12th standard based on commerce related subjects.
B.Sc: The BSc course has 148 seats. Admission is made purely on the basis of marks obtained in 12th standard with an emphasis on science subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or Biology.
BCA: The BCA course offers 40 seats. Admission is strictly on the basis of marks obtained in 12th standard, but the students with a background in Mathematics or Computer Science are preferred.
BBM: The Bachelor of Business Management program also has 40 seats. Admission is based on 12th standard marks, with consideration given to students with aptitude for business studies.
M.Com: The Master of Commerce program offers 80 seats. Admission is based on the marks obtained in the bachelor's degree, preferably in Commerce or related fields.
MA: GDMACS offers MA courses in Marathi, English, and Economics with 60 seats in each course. Admission is done on the basis of marks obtained in the relevant bachelor's degree.
M.Sc: The college offers M.Sc courses in Organic Chemistry with 38 seats and Mathematics with 40 seats. Admission is done on the basis of marks obtained in the relevant bachelor's degree in Science.
