The Government College of Education for Women located in coimbatore was started in the year 1956 is a premier institution imparting education for women with focus on their future. This affiliated college was established in the golden heart of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, to enlighten more than six decades of students. These institutes were recognized by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and approved by the National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) and prove the standard of education of teacher training. Stretched over 1.71 acres of land the college at present is home to a total of 199 students and has 13 renowned faculties. The institution currently has two professional courses which include full-time courses in teaching profession to cater for different levels of education.

The campus is equipped with a good library with computerised system on the cataloging of books hence subjects various educational resources available. The institute offers two main programmes: It offers B.Ed (Bachelor of Education) a two-year full time with fifty seats and M.ED (Master of Education) two year full time with hundred seats .All these programmes are appropriate in the sense that they accommodate the ODE intake of prospective teachers and other applicants at different levels in their teaching career. Combined student intake in all the programmes offered in the college is 199 which does allow a good proportional contact between the faculty and students as well as quality services offered to the students.

For the B.Ed programme Admission is competed by the merit for the qualifying examination/Entrance test.
