Government Degree College, Shahpur, and is an affiliated college located at Shahpur, Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. The college offers various undergraduate programs in the fields of Arts, Commerce, and Science. Government Degree College, Shahpur, promotes an admission procedure which is easy and approachable for students coming from varied backgrounds. The college adopts a merit-based admission system to its undergraduate programs.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.A. (Bachelor of Arts): The college provides a fully-fledged B.A. course covering several subjects in the humanities. Admission into the B.A. area is based upon marks obtained in the 10+2 examination. Students who have done their 10+2 exams in any discipline (Arts, Science, or Commerce) are usually invited to apply. 

B.Com (Bachelor of Commerce): For the more business-oriented students, a B.Com degree is available in the school. B.Com admissions are also done on a merit basis according to marks obtained in the 10+2 examination. Students who have studied Commerce or Mathematics at the 10+2 level would usually be preferred, although those from other streams may be accommodated.

B.Sc (Bachelor of Science): Three categories of B.Sc programs are available at the college:

  1. B.Sc (General): The program is targeted toward a broad science education. Admission is conducted on the basis of 10+2 marks, with a preference for candidates from science stream.
  2. B.Sc Medical: This program is for students who want to pursue biological sciences. Admission is based on 10+2 marks along with the knowledge of Biology, Physics, and Chemistry.
  3. B.Sc Non-Medical: This program caters to candidates interested in pursuing physical sciences. Admission is based on 10+2 marks along with knowledge of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.
