Government Degree College, Sumbal Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The College, Sumbal has well-equipped laboratories for all the science stream subjects currently being taught in the college. Electronics Lab Geography Lab Physics Lab Zoology Lab Botany Lab.

The College has two modern and fully equipped computer labs. One lab is located on the first floor of the main college building and is equipped with modern 20" all-in-one Desktops and a display projector. All the workstations are installed with Windows 10 and Ubuntu so students can experience both a Windows and a UNIX programming environment. All machines are equipped with DOS and Linux-based C/C++ Compilers and SQL-based RDBMS packages. The other lab is located on the second floor of the main college building and is equipped with 23" all-in-one Desktops running Windows 10. All the machines are equipped with C/C++ compilers and have a set of other programming tools installed as well.

The College is a newly established college but we have nevertheless worked hard to establish a useful library in the college in a very short period of time. The library has grown to a collection of 9,500+ modern texts and is currently housed on the ground floor of the main campus building. A new 3-floor library complex is under construction in the complex and when completed the college will have a spacious and modern library with an auditorium and the capacity to house tens of thousands of texts and references. Reference and Textbook Hall - The main hall of the library houses more than 5,500  modern textbooks. Most of the textbooks in the library cannot be afforded by the students of the college and the library textbook section is highly popular with the students. News/Reading Room - The college library subscribes to a wide collection of local and national dailies, as well as weeklies and journals which are available in the reading room to students. Librarian's Room and Cataloging Section - The librarian's Room and automation section are where the library receives, catalogs, and tracks books and journals.

The College Male Gymnasium has a hut that houses the gymnasium for boys. This gymnasium is equipped with ample weightlifting and exercise equipment and sees heavy use by staff and students of the college. Female Gymnasium The college has a separate female gymnasium in another hut on the campus. This gymnasium is extremely popular with the female staff of the college.

The College, through its Physical Education Department headed by a Physical Training Instructor and supported by College Sports Committee, provides facilities for all the major and minor outdoor games such as Football, Hockey, Cricket, Volleyball, and Throw ball, Basketball, Kabaddi, Kho-kho, and others. The college has a separate and spacious Indoor Sports Block which caters to the needs of most indoor games like table tennis, badminton, chess, carom, etc. Besides regular students, the block is also used, with the due permission of the college authorities, by outside sports associations and clubs to organize their various sports events.

The College's first floor of the building is a grand auditorium with a seating capacity of around five hundred persons to be used for various academic, cultural, and other events.

The College A full-fledged canteen is presently functional in the college. The canteen provides various food items at concessional rates to the students and staff of the college. There is a quality control system in place which checks the quality and quantity of food items served in the canteen from time to time.

The College has A dispensary equipped with a bed, stretcher, wheelchair, and other necessary tools that is functional in the college. The dispensary run under the supervision of a senior Medical Assistant provides first-aid to students and staff of the college at the time of any emergency.

The College has A bus with a seating capacity of 50 persons available in the college. The bus is used to ferry students of the college during sports tournaments, subject tours, field trips, picnics, etc. to various destinations.

The College has A modern car parking facility being constructed by JKSCIOP in the college.
