Government First Grade College, Gokak Admission Process

Government First Grade College in Gokak, set up by the Government of Karnataka and affiliated to Belgaum, Karnataka. The college offers undergraduate programs in Arts, Commerce, and Science streams. Mostly, the admission to the college is merit-based, like the other colleges in Karnataka in allowing deserving candidates to pursue higher studies. The college follows the academic calendar set by the university for its purposes. Generally, the admission process begins two months before commencement of session, namely around July/August. Interested candidates may visit the admission office or check the college website for specific dates and time frames, which may vary from year to year.

Undergraduate admission is based on candidates having passed 10 plus 2 examinations of any recognized Board. Eligibility may differ with respect to the program opted for; however, normally a candidate is expected to secure a minimum aggregate percentage of marks in the qualifying examination. For admission to specific programs, the marks obtained in subjects relevant to that program may be considered by the college.

The Application Process

1. Requesting Application Forms: The candidate can obtain application forms from the College admission office or download them from the official college website.

2. Filling Out of The Application Form: Enter the particulars in all columns of the form without fail. Indicate your correct personal details, academic information with the program preference.

3. Collecting Relevant Documents: Get all sets of documents which typically include:

  • Report cards for 10th and 12th standards (both original and photocopies);
  • Transfer Certificate from the last institution;
  • Certificate of character;
  • Caste certificate (if required);
  • Passport-size photographs taken recently.

4. Submission Of Applications: Fully completed application forms together with the needed documents must be submitted to the college admission office prior to the stated deadline.

5. According to Merit List: A merit list is prepared by the college for the recommendation of candidates, in accordance with 10+2 scores and other criteria mentioned for each particular program.

6. Verification Procedure: Through a call, those candidates allocated under the shortlisted will be subjected to a verification process of their documents, whereas the call will also remind them to bring all original documents in this regard.

7. Entry of fees: The admission fees should be paid by the selected candidates within the stipulated period to secure his/her seat.

8. Orientation & Classes: (Post-admission), Orientation activities will take place, followed by the classes commencing as per the schedule.

Degree-wise admission Process

BBM (Bachelor of Business Management): The BBM program is designed for the purpose of imparting broad-based business education to students. So admission to BBM is by merit, with least preference for marks in 10+2 examination subjects towards business studies.

B.Com (Bachelor of Commerce): B.Com addresses those potential students who contemplate pursuing a career in commerce and finance. Admission is chiefly on the basis of marks attained at the 10+2 level, with a preference given to students from other streams on overall performance.

B.Sc (Bachelor of Science): The B.Sc program is basically intended for science study. Admission for this course is based on the performance achieved in the 10+2 examinations with the relevant science subjects, which are Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology. The particular subject combination depends on the course intended and it would be prudent for the individual students to check on the eligibility criteria prescribed for the specialization they seek.

BA (Bachelor of Arts): This program diverges into a myriad of subjects in the applied arts and social sciences. Admission to the BA program is based on the candidate's performance in the 10+2 examination. The BA program is open to students from any stream; however, the College may consider marks in relevant subjects for specific BA program specializations.
