Government Maharaj Acharya Sanskrit College, Jaipur Admission Process

Maharaj Acharya Sanskrit College, Jaipur, is one of the very ancient colleges in India that conducts teacher training courses in Sanskrit education. The college offers a rich intellectual life with emphasis on Sanskrit literature, philosophy, and classical knowledge systems of India.

For Undergraduate Admission, the academic qualification of the student at the 10+2 level, particularly in Sanskrit and allied subjects, is a significant point of consideration. Postgraduate applicants should be well-versed in Sanskrit at the undergraduate level. College tests or interviews will probably be conducted for assessing the aptitude and knowledge of the applicants in Sanskrit and allied subjects.

Application Process

Although the process followed in application is not clearly spelt out, the following process would most likely be adopted following the general practice adopted by other comparable institutions:

1. Announcement of Admissions: The college usually gives a notice through public announcement for the start of the admission process on its website as well as in the local newspaper.

2. Application Form: Application form can be collected by the candidates from the college office or downloaded from the official website.

3. Document Submission: The applicants along with the duly filled-up application form must submit required documents such as:

  • Mark sheets of qualifying previous examinations (10th, 12th, or graduation wherever applicable)
  • Character certificate of the institution last attended
  • Transfer certificate
  • Caste certificate (if required)
  • Recent passport size photographs

4. Entrance Test/Interview: For some courses, especially postgraduate ones, the college may hold an entrance test or interview to test the candidate's proficiency in Sanskrit and related subjects.

5. Merit List: Shortlisted candidates are ready with a merit list according to the candidate's academic record or performance in the entrance test. The same is put up on the college notice board and college website.

6. Confirmation of Admission: Shortlisted students' admission is requested along with payment of the specified fee and original documents within the given time.

7. Orientation: The freshmen take an orientation course for familiarization with the college, its facilities and the curriculum.

Degree wise Admission Process

BA Shastri: This is the college's main undergraduate course. It is a three-year course intended to provide a strong foundation in Sanskrit literature and classical Indian systems of knowledge. Admission to this course is likely on merit based on performance in the 10+2 exam, where one studies Sanskrit.

Special MA Programs: There are six special MA courses conducted by the college, each for two years:

1. MA Vedas: Interested in in-depth study of Vedic texts and traditions.
2. MA Sahitya Shastra: Interested in Sanskrit poetry and literature.
3. MA Navya Vyakaran: Interested in advanced Sanskrit grammar.
4. MA Jyotish: Interested in ancient Indian astronomy and astrology.
5. MA Dharm Shastra: Interested in religious law and ethics in Sanskrit texts.
6. MA Acharya Darshan (Indian Philosophy): Studies all major schools of Indian philosophy.

Admission into such postgraduate courses would ideally require a bachelor's degree in Sanskrit or any other subject.
