Government Medical College, Jagtial Admission Process

Government Medical College, Jagtial (GMC Jagtial) is a recently established medical institution, in Dharur Camp, Jagtial, Telangana. Recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC), GMC Jagtial is committed to providing high-quality medical education to aspiring doctors. The admission cycle for GMC Jagtial is usually in accordance with the schedule of the NEET examination. Candidates need to qualify for the NEET exam, which is conducted annually, usually in May or June. The NEET results are declared in June or July. Counseling starts once the results are declared.

To be eligible for admission to the MBBS program at GMC Jagtial, the candidate should satisfy the requirements as specified by the National Medical Commission and the state government of Telangana. The minimum eligibility criteria are passing 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as compulsory subjects and English as a compulsory subject. The minimum age requirement is 17 years as of December 31st of the admission year. The first entrance exam for all the medical aspirants in India is the NEET exam. This exam examines students according to their knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology).

Application Procedure

Application for getting admission in the MBBS programme of GMC Jagtial follows these procedure:

1. NEET Registration and Examination: One must register and get screened for NEET conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). This generally involves the process of filling out an online application, uploading necessary documents and payment of examination fee.

2. NEET Result: After the exam, candidates must wait for the NEET results to be declared. Only those who qualify NEET with the required percentile are eligible for further steps in the admission process.

3. State Counselling Registration: Qualified candidates need to register for the state counselling process conducted by the Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), which oversees medical admissions in Telangana.

4. Verification of Documents: The applicants will have to get their documents verified. The common documents usually consist of the following:

  • NEET score card
  • 10th and 12th standard mark sheets and certificates
  • Transfer certificate
  • Caste certificate (in case the candidate is availing a benefit)
  • Domicile certificate, if a seat is taken from the state quota
  • Passport-size recent photographs

5. Filling of Options: The choice filling process where the candidate can fill his choices of colleges and courses is done.

6. Allotment: Seats are given to the students based on NEET score, category, and options filled by the student.

7. Reporting to College: If one gets a seat in GMC Jagtial, one has to report to the college within the stipulated time with original documents and requisite fees.
8. Medical Examination: A medical examination may be carried out to confirm the candidate's fitness for the MBBS program.

Throughout the application process, candidates are advised to regularly check the official websites of KNRUHS and GMC Jagtial for any updates or changes in the admission procedure. It's essential to adhere to all deadlines and submit accurate information to avoid any complications in the admission process.

Degree Wise Admission Process

MBBS: The MBBS course at GMC Jagtial is a six years full-time period, followed by one year of compulsory rotating internship. The admissions for the program are strictly based on NEET scores among the candidates. GMC Jagtial has annual intake capacity of 150 for the MBBS course.

For eligibility in the MBBS course, the following criteria are to be followed:

  • Clearing the NEET exam with minimum percentile NMC decides
  • Passout of 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English
  • Aggregate marks must be 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology for general category. This is set to 40% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology for SC/ST/OBC candidates
  • The candidate must also not be more than 17 years as of 31st December of the admission year.

Candidates who pass the NEET exam with cut-off scores according to the cut-off scores that are decided can apply for seat allotment counseling conducted by GMC Jagtial.
