GMC Kannauj Admission Process

GMC Kannauj is a prestigious medical college situated in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, the college imparts quality medical education and is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC). GMC Kannauj follows a rigorous selection and merit-based system for admitting students to undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Admission to GMC Kannauj and MD for postgraduate courses has a national examination-based approach. Admission into the MBBS program is granted via the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Admission for MD programs will depend on the outcome of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for postgraduates (NEET PG). GMC Kannauj generally commences its academic schedule in the period of August-September. Any candidate intending to apply to GMC Kannauj should have qualified the respective entrance test as explained (NEET for MBBS, NEET PG for MD). 

Though every year, the exact dates are subject to variation, NEET applications are generally expected to commence in the February-March time frame, whereas NEET PG counseling roughly occurs in February-March the following year. To apply for the MBBS program, candidates must possess a 10+2 certificate with the subject combination of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as essential ones. For an MD program, candidates must have finished their MBBS course from an authorized institution. Detailed eligibility requirements to the effect have also been made available by the individual examining bodies, in this case, the NTA for NEET and NBE for NEET PG.

 Application Process

Application processes for GMC Kannauj differ based on the program:

For MBBS:

  1. Register for and appear in the NEET organized by the NTA.
  2. Qualify NEET with a score parallel to the cut-off percentile of your category.
  3. Apply for state counseling process (as GMC Kannauj is another state government college).
  4. Attend the counseling rounds as per the schedule set by the state counseling authority.
  5. Report to GMC Kannauj on allotment for document verification and further admission procedure.

For MD Programs (both Pharmacology and Physiology):

  1. Register and take the NEET PG organized by the NBE.
  2. Qualify the NEET PG with a score above the required cut off.
  3. Apply for the state PG counseling process.
  4. Participate in the counseling rounds as per the schedule.
  5. If allotted a seat at GMC Kannauj, confirm the admission by reporting, submitting the necessary documents, and paying the fees.

Degree wise Admission Process

MBBS: For MBBS, GMC Kannauj has provided 100 seats for fulfilling MBBS admission criteria. Selection for the MBBS program is based on candidates' merit during the NEET examination. The selection process is highly competitive, and the best candidates are made an offer of admission. Candidates must be eligible according to the National Medical Commission and appear for NEET with a minimum required percentile.

MD Pharmacology: There are 2 seats available for admission to the MD Pharmacology program. Admission is on the basis of the candidate's NEET PG exam score. Eligible candidates must have completed their MBBS degree and have qualified for the NEET PG exam with the required cut-off score. The selection is based on merit considering the candidate's performance in the entrance exam.

MD Physiology: As with MD Pharmacology, GMC Kannauj offers 2 seats for the MD Physiology course. The admission process is NEET PG based. Candidates must be MBBS graduates who are NEET PG qualified to apply. Selection will be based on a merit basis as created from NEET PG scores.

The documents generally required for the admission process include:

  • NEET/NEET PG scorecard
  • Mark sheets and certificates from the 10th and 12th
  • MBBS degree certificate and mark sheets (for PG admission)
  • Valid ID proof
  • Domicile certificate (if applicable)
  • Caste certificate (if applicable)
  • Recent passport-sized photographs.

NEET 2021 results have been declared by the National Testing Agency NTA.

To predict whether you will definitely get a seat in a college is an uphill task as cut-offs for colleges change every depending upon several factors such as-

• Number of applicants in NEET exam

• NEET question paper difficulty level

• Score of the candidates in NEET 2021 result

• MBBS/BDS seat matrix 2021


NEET 2021 Cut-off goes like :-

• General /EWS- 50th percentile

• SC/ST/OBC - 40th percentile

• General-PwD - 45th percentile

• SC/ST/OBC-PwD - 40th percentile


Marks wise cut off is as following-

• General - 720-138

• OBC/SC/ST - 137-108

• Gen PwD - 137-122

• (OBC /SC / ST ) PwD - 121-108


Though it was expected that due to higher difficulty level of examination cut-off for colleges will decrease, but it turns out students have performed exceptionally well and the cut offs have increased compared to last year.

But neet cut off marks for Medical Colleges keeps changing depending upon several factors like number of students that appeared in the exam, kind of marks scored by students, toughness level of exam etc.
So , you need to better try to get at at least 570 + marks in neet.
