The very first technical institution of its kind in the erstwhile Karnataka state at Belgaum, and the very name given to it is called the Government Tool Room and Training Centre (GTTC). Located at Udyambag, Belgaum in the Industrial Estate, it is one of the institutes approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. The institute has been preparing future technicians for more than two decades with its emphasis on Precision Engineering and Automation.
The institute has a few diploma courses similar to that of the manufacturing industry. Generally, one has to pass a 10+2 or equivalent examination with science and mathematics subjects for admission.
