Guwahati College of Architecture, Guwahati is one of the prominent institutes of education was established in 2006 with the aim of developing architects and future urban planners. This affiliated college is situated in Azara, Guwahati, Assam. The Council of Architecture has approved the college, which intends to offer students quality education in architecture. It has a campus area of 2.2956 acres land, compactly designed for a proper learning environment, with an enrolment of 128 students under its roof. The college has an excellent student-faculty ratio with 14 inspiring teachers teaching future architects.

Guwahati College of Architecture is proud to provide the best facilities to the students admitted to this esteemed institute with the very aim of nurturing the learning atmosphere. The University has well-equipped fully air-conditioned library resource centre that stocks vast collections of reference books, textbooks, and journals pertaining to architecture and allied subjects. It again provides internet access with scanning facilities and makes use of e-granthalaya for efficient management. A unique feature is the Material Library with samples of building materials and small-scale models thus providing hands-on learning. The institution's computer lab, which is stocked with 80 computers, provides classes in AutoCAD, PageMaker, 3D modeling software, and animation, thereby placing students on solid footing for the digital part of architectural design.

GCAP has two courses, both of which aid to the different areas of architectural education in the two full-time programmes. The professional course is the undergraduate course: Bachelor of Architecture. The approved annual intake for the course is 40 students. Another professional course available is Master of Planning in Urban and Regional Planning that invites budding urban planners.

The College of Architecture, located in Azara, Guwahati, Assam, has been one of the finest in architectural education. The college, approved by the Council of Architecture, adopts a very well-defined admission process aimed at choosing the most promising and aspirational architects. Mostly through the performance of candidates in two national-level entrance examinations-Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main and the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA)-the admission programs of GCAP are conducted. The admission calendar of GCAP usually works alongside the academic session, which normally starts in August-September. Candidates aspiring to get admission into GCAP have to sit for either the JEE Main or NATA, which basically evaluates the aptitude of the candidate for pursuing architectural studies. 

Such examinations were aimed at assuring that the students selected have the basic skills and competencies required for a career in architecture. The B.Arch program is the main program at GCAP, The eligibility criteria for B.Arch admission consist of passing the 10+2 or equivalent examination with the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The candidates should also meet the minimum eligibility prescribed by the Council of Architecture and perform well in the entrance examination of JEE Main or NATA.

Application Process

The Guwahati College of Architecture application process comprises a detailed procedure:

1. Entrance Examination: The candidates must appear for either one of the JEE Main (Paper 2) or NATA. The application process generally begins in January for JEE Main, with exam dates set for April. In an academic calendar year, NATA is expected to be held multiple times, and the application process opens 2-3 months prior to each test date.

2. Application Submission: Upon the announcement of the results of the entrance exam, eligible candidates could apply to GCAP. The college, whenever there would be need, would insist on using its own application form, which has to be filled meticulously with all information called for regarding personal details, educational qualifications, etc.

3. Document Submission: Various documents will have to be submitted by the applicants, which may include:

4. Merit List Preparation: Prepared on the basis of JEE Main or NATA scores and 10+2 scores, the merit list will be drawn up according to the relative weightage assigned by the college and other regulatory authorities.

5. Counselling and Seat Allotment: Shortlisted candidates may be called for a counselling process wherein the seats will be allotted according to merit and preferences.

6. Fee Payment and Confirmation of Admission: Candidates finally selected shall pay the requisite fee and submit original documents to confirm their admission.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Arch (Bachelor of Architecture): For 5 years full-time undergraduate course at the Guwahati College of Architecture, this is the best considered admission: a major granting either JEE Main or NATA. For this program, a total intake of 40 seats is available. The candidates eligible for B.Arch admission should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with the minimum marks as prescribed by the Council of Architecture.

M.Plan (Master of Planning in Urban and Regional Planning): Another M.Plan program grooms students in Urban and Regional Planning at the GCAP. For this course, no specific information concerning the admission procedure has been provided, but typically a graduate program would be considered. Admission would normally be open to applicants holding a relevant bachelor's degree in architecture or planning. The process may involve assessment of the academic record, entrance test results, and possibly an interview.
