Hislop College, is the oldest college in Nagpur, established in 1883 by a Scottish evangelist and educationist Stephen Hislop. As far as infrastructure is concerned, it has all the basic facilities and a decent infrastructure. But nothing exceptionally remarkable. The library does not have a wide range of literature apart from the ones prescribed in the syllabus of the cources offered here, classes are tiny and often not the cleanest. But everything's passable.
I'm currently pursuing Bachelor's in Arts degree, I'm a final year student, majoring in English literature and Psychology. I'd say teachers are pretty good and informative but their communication with the students and their ability to totally engage the whole class is below average. The assignments don't get checked ( because too many students), and there isn't much space to experiment here. The syllabus is age old bland and it requires bare minimum efforts to pass the exam.
The chances of you getting placed after completing any course from here is coarse. And especially when you take Arts as your bachelor's field, you'd suffer more. The college, for most students is just a stepping stone for the other, better college they aspire to join. Stand alone it doesn't mean that much.
The fees is not as high for most of the courses offered by Hislop college. Yearly fees for Arts cost me around 5000/- excluding many minor things they extract money for like gym, flag day, icard, parking etc.
Campus is average, as all things here. There are a few activities students can engage in (if they're active enough otherwise you'd not have a clue about what's happening) Hislop college is known for taking sports seriously and wins many titles there. Staff is rigid and hard to talk to. The location is one of the safest in Nagpur and it's conveniently located. Bullying is not a part of Hislop's culture at all.
