IMU Kolkata Campus

The Indian Maritime University Kolkata Campus was established by an Act of Parliament (Act 22) and recognised as a Central University in November 2008. IMU-KC is sponsored by the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India. The institute is ISO 9001:2008 Certified and is known for producing some of the best marine engineers in the world. Apart from the 4-year long B.Tech course in Marine Engineering, IMU-KC courses include both undergraduate and postgraduate level programmes. For admission to management postgraduate courses, IMU conducts its own entrance examination which is popularly known as IMU CET. 

The IMU admissions are based on the scores attained in the entrance examination which is followed by a process of counselling. The successful students are allotted seats based on the rank secured in the examination primarily and past academics. IMU Kolkata does reserve a seat for some of the state students covering the 8 north-eastern states, and the union territories. Though the IMU KC does not offer guaranteed placement but makes all efforts possible to assist candidates in finding respectable jobs. The IMU Kolkata offers multiple facilities like laboratories, libraries, cafeterias, auditoriums, playgrounds, and more for its students, and employees.

IMU-KC Location

The Indian Maritime University Kolkata campus is located at CPT Colony, Taratala, Kolkata. The Kolkata campus is located 8 km away from the Santragachi Junction railway station which is the nearest one and can be covered in a taxi. The closest airport is Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport which is 28.6 km away and covering the distance in a cab is the best possible option. Also, the IMU-KC is situated at a distance of 9 km, and 12.2 km respectively from Dharmatala, and the Sealdah bus terminus. Students can take bus route No. 13 from Dharmatala, and bus route No. 12AD, 259 S-47, E-4, from Sealdah.
