The Institute of Land and Disaster Management, Thiruvananthapuram is one of the specialist institutions offering postgraduate programs in land governance, disaster management, water and river management. Admission procedure is also stringent as the selection process will find candidates possessing sound aptitude and potential for the critical tasks involved in the two fields.
There is just one intake cycle for ILDM, which generally falls under an academic year, whereas applications usually open in the first quarter of the calendar year. Multiple entrance exams of national level are accepted, like the Common Management Admission Test, Common Admission Test, and Karnataka Management Aptitude Test. These tests are held between the months of November and February, and the results come out in subsequent months.
ILDM's MBA eligibility criteria require a bachelor's degree from a recognized university. Even though the percentage requirements are not specified, it is expected that the candidate would have a good academic background. Application Process
Application process for ILDM's MBA programs is designed to be fair and comprehensive in evaluating candidates:
1. Entrance Exam: The first appearance of one of the accepted entrance exams, CMAT, CAT, or KMAT is mandatory. These exams determine quantities ability, verbal skills, logical reasoning, and general awareness.

5. Shortlisting: Shortlisting is made by ILDM based on Entrance Exam score, academic record as well as academic performance of candidate for the second round of process.
6. Group Discussion: The shortlisted candidates are asked to participate in a group discussion. This is to check their communication skills, ability to work in teams, and knowledge of current affairs related to the field of study they have chosen.
7. Personal Interview: The final stage of the selection process is a personal interview. Here, candidates are evaluated on their motivation, subject knowledge, and overall suitability for the program.
8. Final Selection: The institute makes a final selection on the basis of a composite score that includes performance in the entrance exam, academic background, group discussion, and personal interview.
9. Offer of Admission: The selected candidates receive an offer of admission. They have to accept the same within the time frame specified and pay the fee and submit other documents if required.
Degree wise Admission Process
MBA Land Governance This is a special program at ILDM, and it focuses on land management and governance issues. The admission process has three important steps: KMAT, CMAT, or CAT scores followed by a group discussion and then a personal interview. The program has an intake of 30 students, approved, so there is a more focused and interactive learning environment.
MBA in Disaster Management: Since the world urgently needs disaster management professionals, admission into this programme is also akin to the same process of admitting candidates to the MBA in Land Governance. However, this candidate selection process comprises assessment through their KMAT or CMAT scores and then undergoes a group discussion and interview process. Its intake capacity has been kept to 30.
MBA Water and River Management: This unique program addresses serious concerns over water resource management. Admission is similar to other MBA programs offered at ILDM, which means applicants are evaluated based on their performance through entrance examination scores that lead to admittance by KMAT, CMAT, or CAT, group discussion, and personal interview. The intake approved under this is the same as other programs; 30 students.
