When there is a tie in the GATE score, marks obtained in the qualifying examination are taken as a tie-breaker.
Integrated M.Sc in Photonics: This five-year program offers 20 seats. Admission is based on the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the CUSAT Directorate of Admissions. The test (Test 101) comprises 250 objective-type multiple-choice questions based on the Plus Two syllabus, with 125 questions from Mathematics and 125 from Physics and Chemistry (in a 3:2 ratio). The test duration is three hours.
PhD in Photonics: Admission for the doctoral course is a two-stage Departmental Admission Test (DAT). The initial stage is a written test, then an interview for shortlisted candidates. The candidates are required to obtain a minimum of 50% marks in the written test to be considered for ranking. A 5% concession is offered to SC/ST candidates in the marks of the written test.
