JIAR Admission Process

Jammu Institute of Ayurveda and Research (JIAR), is a renowned institution offering education in Ayurveda. The institute has a rigorous admission process to choose the best and most dedicated students for its courses. JIAR is accredited by the Central Council for Indian Medicine (CCIM) and offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Ayurvedic medicine.

The admission policy of JIAR is primarily based on national-level entrance exams. For the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) program, the candidates must pass the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). This ensures that students with a proper science background and strong interest in studying Ayurvedic medicine are admitted to the program.

Application Process

The application procedure for admission to Jammu Institute of Ayurveda and Research varies with the program:

For BAMS Program:

1. Pass the NEET exam with the lowest percentile.
2. Check the official website of JIAR for admission dates and procedure announcements.
3. Download the application form from the institute website or obtain it from the admission department.
4. Fill the application form and submit it along with all required documents, including the NEET score card, 10+2 mark sheets, and other certificates required.
5. Pay the application fee as mentioned by the institute.
6. Attend counseling sessions, if selected, based on the NEET score and as per the state of admission rules.

For MD and MS Programs:

1. Appear for the AIAPGET and secure a minimum of 50 percentile.
2. Continuously visit the JIAR website for postgraduate admission notifications.
3. Download and fill up the PG application form from the institute website.
4. Complete the form with the required information and submit it along with AIAPGET score card, BAMS degree certificate, internship completion certificate, and other documents.
5. Pay the application fee as indicated.
6. Report for the counseling process if selected based on the AIAPGET merit list.

Degree wise Admission Process

BAMS: The flagship course of JIAR is Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS). The applicants are selected for the course on the basis of their scores in the NEET exam. The institute has approved 60 seats for the BAMS course. The course is eligible for candidates who have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as compulsory subjects.

MD Sharir Kriya: The postgraduate course has an approved strength of 5 seats. A candidate must secure a minimum of 50 percentile in the entrance examination of AIAPGET conducted by an authority as specified by the Central Government. Admission will be on the basis of merit list formed from AIAPGET marks.

MD Kayachikitsa: This program also has an approved intake of 5 seats. Admission will be on the basis of the performance of the candidate in the AIAPGET with a minimum of 50 percentile. The selection process is done after taking into account the merit list prepared based on the marks obtained in the entrance test.

MS Shalya Tantra: This postgraduate surgical course of Ayurveda also takes in 5 seats. The selection criteria are similar to other PG courses, i.e., at least 50 percentile in AIAPGET. The last resort is based on the merit list drawn up based on the performance in the entrance test.

Documents required for admission are usually:

  • NEET/AIAPGET score card
  • 10th and 12th standard mark sheets
  • BAMS degree certificate (for PG courses)
  • Completion certificate for internship (in case of PG courses)
  • Transfer certificate
  • Migration certificate (if needed)
  • Caste certificate (if needed)
  • Recent passport-sized photographs
  • Domicile certificate (if needed)

I m persuing BAMS from this college which stands for Bachelor in Ayurvedic medicines and surgeries. The curriculum is well updated with all recent updates. As this degree on its own is very good we learn about the ancient methods of sciences.

----- cut-offs for colleges change every year depending upon several factors such as-

NEET 2021 Cut-off goes like :-

• General /EWS- 50th percentile

• SC/ST/OBC - 40th percentile

• General-PwD - 45th percentile

• SC/ST/OBC-PwD - 40th percentile


Marks wise cut off is as following-

• General - 720-138

• OBC/SC/ST - 137-108

• Gen PwD - 137-122

• (OBC /SC / ST ) PwD - 121-108

Jammu Institute of Ayurveda and Research is a private Institution established in the year 1999. This institute provides degree's of M.S, B.A.M.S, M.S in various disciplines.

The application form for this college can be filled in offline mode. You need to visit admission counter in the college where you will get the application form along with the prospectus. You have to fill the application and submit it with the xerox of required certificates/documents at the admission counter itself
