Coimbatore's Karpagam Faculty of Medical Sciences and Research is one of the premier medical colleges located in Tamil Nadu, India. It follows a complete admission procedure for a number of medical courses, ranging from an undergraduate level (MBBS) to a postgraduate level. The entire course is recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC), which is running the institute on a merit-based admission system.
Usually, the admission cycle for Karpagam Faculty of Medical Sciences and Research would run parallelly with the admission timelines for the national medical college. While undergraduate admissions begin with the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) in May, the admitted postgraduate students record their names based on the result of the NEET-PG taken from February to March in the following year.
Eligibility for admission to MBBS requires 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology along with a NEET-UG score for selection based on the counseling process. For Karpagam Faculty of Medical Sciences and Research:
MBBS
1. Get through the NEET-UG exam.
2. Register and participate, as applicable, in the state/central counseling process.
3. During the counseling process, select Karpagam Faculty of Medical Sciences and Research.
4. Report to the college for document verification and admission formalities in case of seat allocation.
MD/MS:
1. Clear the NEET-PG exam.
2. Apply for NEET-PG admission in a centralized counseling process.
3. During counseling, choose Karpagam Faculty of Medical Sciences and Research and the specialty of choice.
4. Follow the admission process at the Institute if offered.
Degree-wise Admission Procedure
MBBS Admission is based on NEET merit. There are a total of 150 seats available in this discipline. Eligible candidates must have passed their 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and qualified in NEET-UG. For specializations offered by the MS/MD course, the Karpagam Faculty of Medical Sciences grants admission based on merit in NEET-PG. The seat availability is specific to the specialization and ranges from 1 to 3 for each specialization. To apply for these programs, the candidates should have completed an MBBS.
