Madurai Medical College, Madurai Admission 2025: Dates, Registration, Fees, Eligibility

Madurai Medical College, Madurai (MMC) is a well-known medical college, providing various undergraduate, postgraduate, and super-specialty courses in various branches of medicine. The admission process at MMC is very competitive and merit-based, relying on entrance exams conducted across the country, which helps in the selection of most deserving and worthy candidates from all over the country.

For post graduate programs such as MBBS, admission is offered based on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG). Admission to post graduate programs such as MD, MS, and other specialist programs is offered based on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post Graduate (NEET-PG). The college observes the academic calendar of national medical education authorities, and admission usually starts after the publication of entrance exam results.

The minimum qualification for undergraduate programs is clearing 10+2 of a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as mandatory subjects. For the majority of the courses, there must be at least an aggregate of 50% marks in the qualifying examination. Postgraduate candidates must have cleared MBBS from a recognized institution.

Application Process

Madurai Medical College application process differs as per the course:

For MBBS:

1. Enroll and sit for the NEET-UG exam.
2. Secure NEET-UG with specified cut-off marks.
3. Take application for Tamil Nadu state counselling (for state quota seats) or undergo the All India Quota (AIQ) counselling process.
4. Fill up the documents sought, i.e., NEET score card, 10+2 mark sheets, domicile certificate (if applicable), and category certificates (if applicable).
5. Undergo the counselling process as per the scheduled notification of the concerned authorities.
6. If sitting, finish the admission procedures at Madurai Medical College, such as document verification and fee payment.

For MD/MS Courses:

1. Give the NEET-PG exam held by the National Board of Examinations.
2. Clear NEET-PG with scores above the cut-off.
3. Get registered for the counselling process held by the Directorate General of Health Services (for All India Quota) or the Tamil Nadu state counselling committee (for state quota).
4. Submit certificates such as MBBS degree certificate, internship completion certificate, and NEET-PG score card.

For Super-specialty Courses (DM/M.Ch):

For B.Pharma/D.Pharma:

Degree wise Admission Process

MBBS: Admission to MBBS course at MMC is on merit of the candidate in NEET-UG. The college offers 250 seats for MBBS. The candidate should have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology and should have passed NEET-UG to be eligible for admission.

MD/MS: MMC has various MD and MS programs such as Anaesthesiology, General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Radio Diagnosis, Pathology, ENT, Psychiatry, Dermatology Venereology and Leprosy, etc. Admission through NEET-PG scores. The seats differ in each specialty from 4 to 27.

DM/M.Ch: Super-speciality courses such as DM in Cardiology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Oncology, Neurology, and Nephrology and M.Ch in Cardio Thoracic Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Surgical Gastroenterology, Vascular Surgery, Urology, and Neuro Surgery are conducted. The Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education, Kilpauk makes the admissions on the basis of super-specialty entrance examinations.

B.Pharma/D.Pharma: Pharmacy is provided in MMC with the Selection Committee, Directorate of Medical Education, Kilpauk making the admissions.

M.Pharma: Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, and Pharmacognosy specializations are offered.
