Malda Medical College and Hospital, Malda Admission Process

Malda Medical College and Hospital has been an eminent medical institution, situated in Malda, West Bengal. The college was established and affiliated under the West Bengal University of Health Sciences and recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC). Malda Medical College and Hospital provide undergraduate and postgraduate programs in various medical disciplines with an objective of quality medical education and transporting trained healthcare professionals in the society. The highly competitive merit-based process of admission into Malda Medical College and Hospital is for prospective candidates into its undergraduate programs with admissions done through NEET-UG, the nation-wide examination for aspiring medical students, and the NEET-PG scores for postgraduate admissions.

Malda Medical College and Hospital normally commences its academic year in August-September. The NEET-UG exam is normally held by May, and results announced in June. For NEET-PG, the counseling process for the upcoming academic year takes place in between February 19, 2025, and February 27, 2025. Eligibility criteria for MBBS include passing 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology subjects. The age limit and the NEET-UG cutoff score must also be satisfied. The eligibility criteria for the postgraduate programs include a completed MBBS degree from a recognized institution and qualifying in the NEET-PG examination.

Application Process

The application process into Malda Medical College and Hospital varies from course to course and the following is the format for MBBS:

  1. Register and take the NEET-UG examination
  2. Qualify NEET-UG, above cutoff marks, and apply to take part in West Bengal state counseling once the application window is open.
  3. Fill the online application form and pay the fee.
  4. Upload all necessary documents like NEET-UG score card, 10+2 mark sheet, age proof, and category certificate if applicable.
  5. Participate in the counseling process as per the allotted date and time.
  6. If a seat is given, report to Malda Medical College and Hospital for verification of documents and conduct admission formalities.

Further, regarding postgraduate programs (MS Obstetrics and Gynaecology, MD Pediatrics, MD Microbiology) 

  1. Registration and applying for the NEET-PG examination. 
  2. Qualifying for the NEET-PG cutoff marks. 
  3. Applying for All India Quota counseling or State Quota as eligible. 
  4. Fill the online application form and deposit the required counselling fee. 
  5. Upload the mandatory documents, including NEET-PG score card, MBBS degree certificate, internship completion certificate, and registration certificate. 
  6. The candidate will then appear in the counseling scheduled from February 19, 2025, to February 27, 2025, for the next academic year. 
  7. If allotted a seat, report to Malda Medical College and Hospital for document verification and admission.

Degree wise Admission Process

MBBS: This has an intake of 125 seats in the undergraduate Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree course at the Malda Medical College and Hospital. Admission is based completely on a student's score in the NEET-UG examination. The yearly fees for this degree course total about Rs. 46,000.

MS Obstetrics and Gynaecology: This postgraduate program has 6 seats available. Admission is through the NEET-PG examination followed by counseling.

MD Pediatrics: The college has five seats for this master's program. The candidate must qualify themselves in the NEET-PG examination to have conditions set for entry.

MD Microbiology: This postgraduate programme has three seats on its roll. Admission is on the merit performance of canddiates in the NEET-PG examination and following that conduct of the counseling.

Generally required documents for admission include - 

  • NEET score card (UG/PG as applicable) 
  • 10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates 
  • MBBS degree certificate and mark sheets (for PG courses). 
  • Internship completion certificate (PG courses)  
  • Medical registration certificate (PG courses) 
  • Category certificate (if applicable)  
  • ID proof and address proof  
  • Recent passport
  • size photographs.
