Metropolitan Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata Admission Process

Metropolitan Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata, is one of the very few institutions that impart homoeopathic education in West Bengal. The college follows a structured and well-defined admission procedure based entirely on merit. Admission to the Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery (BHMS) course will be on the basis of the NEET score. The academic calendar runs in sync with that of the NEET examination held once a year. A candidate must qualify in the NEET examination for the year of admission concerned. The admission process under the West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee (WBMCC) is open to all candidates.

The eligibility for admission to the BHMS course requires the candidate to complete the 10+2 course in Science or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as main subjects. In addition, the candidate has to obtain the minimum qualifying percentile as prescribed in the NEET conducted for that year by the regulatory body. The only entrance examination for admission to the Metropolitan Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital is the NEET examination, which will test the students on topics from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology at the 10+2 level. 

Application Process

Metropolitan Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital accepts applications for the BHMS programme through NEET and WBMCC counselling. The application procedure is as follows:

1. NEET Registration and Examination:

  • Register for NEET on the official website of NTA
  • Attend the NEET exam on the scheduled date
  • Obtain a qualifying percentile in NEET

2. WBMCC Counselling Registration:

  • Register for WBMCC counselling after the NEET result has been declared
  • Fill in personal details, academic details, and upload the required documents

3. Choice Filling:

  • Preference for colleges and courses is given during the counselling
  • If you are interested, put Metropolitan Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital in your list.

4. Seat Allotment:

  • Allocations are done on the basis of NEET rank, choices filled, and available seats
  • Check the result of allotment on the WBMCC portal

5. Reporting to the College:

  • If you are allotted a seat, go to Metropolitan Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital in the given time
  • Submit all your original documents for verification
  • Pay the required fees to secure your admission.

Degree-wise Admission Process

BHMS (Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery) : The BHMS course at Metropolitan Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital is a full-time programme lasting six years. The jurisdiction for this programme is 50, meaning these many students have been admitted every year, and the admission is strictly on the basis of NEET results. The admission process consists of the following steps:

  1. The candidate has to qualify for the NEET examination.
  2. The candidate has to participate in the Centralized Counselling conducted by WBMCC.
  3. Seat allotment based on NEET rank and choices filled in during counselling.

Eligibility for BHMS:

  1. The candidate must complete 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology
  2. Qualifying in NEET with the required percentile
  3. Any other necessary criterion stated by Central Council of Homeopathy (CCH) or state authorities

The following documents are required (but are not limited to):

  • Admit card and NEET result
  • 10th and 12th mark sheets and certificates
  • Transfer certificate
  • Character certificate
  • Medical fitness certificate
  • Caste certificate (if applicable)
  • Recent passport-size photos.
