Modern College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Shivajinagar, Pune offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs across various disciplines. The admission process at Modern College is designed to select deserving candidates based on merit and follows the guidelines set by Savitribai Phule Pune University and the Government of Maharashtra.

The admission cycle usually starts in May-June for the academic year beginning in August-September. Most undergraduate programs have admissions based on the marks secured in the qualifying examination, i.e., 12th standard. Some courses are specialized and have additional requirements or entrance tests.

Eligibility criteria can differ as per the course. For undergraduate programs, a candidate needs to pass 10+2 from any recognized board. Most of the courses demand at least an aggregate of 50% marks in the qualifying exam. Candidates seeking admission in the postgraduate course must hold a bachelor's degree in an allied field from any recognized university.

The college does not conduct entrance exams for most courses but considers scores from national-level entrance exams for some programs. For instance, for MBA admissions, the scores of CAT are considered followed by WAT and PI.

Application Process

The Application process in Modern College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Shivajinagar, Pune differ from the various courses.

To apply:-

1. One must visit the Modern College Website.

2. After getting to admissions there one need to choose desired programs.

3. Then it allows to downloading or taking out print of that course's application form.

4. Required Documents normally

• Photocopies of all the passed photographs.
• Copies of all marks sheets and grades for those 10th 12th as well as Graduation Exam where one can applies.
• Transfer certificate
• Migration certificate (if applicable)
• Caste certificate (if applicable)
• Entrance exam score card (for programs requiring entrance exams)

5. Submit the filled-in application form with all other required documents to the college admission office on or before the specified deadline.

6. Pay the application fee as determined by the college.

7. For Merit-based Admission wait for merit list to come up on college website or Notice board.

8. If the student gets through then he must follow up for the admission by paying the prescribed fee and uploading all original documents.

For all those courses who conduct entrance exam or also require additional entry exams:

• For MBA, appear for CAT; subsequently, they appear for WAT and PI in the College.
• Some specialized courses have their own selection process, with entrance tests conducted by the college.

Reservations according to government rules apply to admissions. The college also has a provision under which vacant seats are filled through entrance tests conducted by the institution for some courses.

It is also advisable to apply well in advance of the last date so as not to be marred by problems on the last date.

Degree wise Admission Process

B. Com: Merit is the process of admission in B. Com. In regular B. Com, 1440 students are admitted while in B. Com Self Finance, 360 students are admitted. The eligibility for these courses is that a candidate should pass in 12th standard with all subjects.

B.Sc: There are B.Sc in various fields: Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Biotechnology, etc. It's offered through admissions done with marks at the 12th standard levels based on subjects: PCB or PCM. Seats in B.Sc Computer Science - 180 B.Sc Chemistry, B.Sc Physics 240 each.

BBA: The college offers BBA programs such as International Business and Computer Applications. Admission is based on the selection procedure laid down by Savitribai Phule Pune University. For BBA International Business, there are 80 seats available.

M.Com: Specializations offered under M.Com include E-Commerce and Self Finance. Each program has 60 seats. Admission is based on the candidate's performance in the qualifying bachelor's degree.

M.Sc: The college offers M.Sc in subjects like Computer Science, Biotechnology, Physics, etc. Admission is granted on the basis of the performance of the candidate in the respective bachelor's degree. For instance, M.Sc Computer Science has 60 seats.

Ph.D: Doctoral programs are available in all the fields. Admission is done based on the merit of the candidate in a written test and/or interview, as per the guidelines of the respective university.
