Punjab College of Technical Education (PCTE) and in terms of technical and management education, PCTE is a premier institution in Punjab. It is an AICTE-approved institution with an organized process for granting admission to undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses. PCTE is known for giving the utmost importance to quality education and maintaining high standards of academic excellence. The admission process usually starts PCTE shortly before the commencement of the academic year. Generally, the college admits students to the four core programs, namely, BBA (undergraduate), BCA (undergraduate), MBA (postgraduate), and MBA in International Business (postgraduate).
As for the undergraduate programs, candidates with a 10+2 pass certificate from any recognized board can apply for the BBA and BCA programs. While assessing merit, the candidate's performance in the 10+2 examination might be a criterion, along with state-level or institute-level entrance tests. Candidates with a degree from some University recognized by law in India are eligible for postgraduate programs (MBA and MBA in International Business).

Degree-wise Admission Process
BBA: Under the Bachelor of Business Administration, the intake capacity at PCTE has been approved for 150 students. Admission to the BBA program is based on the performance of the applicant in their 10+2 examinations and an entrance test or interview conducted by the college to assess the aptitude of the candidate in Business Studies.
BCA: Under the Bachelor of Computer Applications, the intake is 60 students per year. The candidates seeking admission into the BCA program should have completed their 10+2 with mathematics as one of the subjects. The other dimension of the admission procedure could consist of a test on the fundamental knowledge of computers and mathematics.
MBA: The regular MBA provided at PCTE has an intake of 120 students. The admission process for this program is typically a multi-level process. All candidates are required to have a valid score from the national or state-level MBA entrance examination. Then, shortlisted candidates are invited for a group discussion and personal interview rounds, which play a vital role in the final selection.
The admission procedure for this program, which focuses on International Business, is somewhat like the regular MBA, but with an added emphasis on the candidate's aptitude for International Business itself.
