Purvanchal Institute of Dental Sciences, Gorakhpur Admission Process

Purvanchal Institute of Dental Sciences (PIDS), Gorakhpur, is a premier dental education institution in Uttar Pradesh. PIDS offers a well-structured Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) course and has merit-based admissions. PIDS is accredited by the Dental Council of India (DCI) for the quality dental education that it offers. The student intake at PIDS for its BDS program is 100 and with its faculty strength of 88, it has a good student-teacher ratio.

The admission process for PIDS is more or less on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) basis. NEET is a national entrance test for admission to dental and medical colleges in India. The application process for NEET typically begins in February, and the test is conducted in May. The students must pass NEET to be eligible for admission at PIDS.

Eligibility requirements for admission to the BDS course at PIDS are:
1. Passing 10+2 or equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as main subjects.

Application Process

The application process for Purvanchal Institute of Dental Sciences admission is as follows:

1. Appear for NEET: The candidates must register and appear for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

2. Application for NEET: Application for NEET is typically in the month of February and ends in March. The applicants must fill up the online application form on the NEET official website and submit the application fee.

3. NEET Exam: The exam for NEET is typically conducted in May. The applicants must sit for the exam at the allotted center.

4. Declaration of Results: The results of NEET are usually declared in June. The candidates can check the results on the official website of NEET.

5. Counselling Procedure: Shortlisted candidates need to go through the counselling procedure conducted by the state authorities or the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) depending on the category of seats.

6. Verification of Documents: Shortlisted candidates are required to report for document verification at PIDS. The documents required typically are:

  • NEET score card
  • 10th and 12th certificates and mark sheets
  • Proof of Date of Birth
  • Category certificate (wherever applicable)
  • Domicile certificate (where required)
  • Recent passport photographs

7. Payment of Fee: After the verification of documents and seat allotment is done properly, candidates must make the payment of the required amount to secure the admission.

8. Medical Test: Admitted students can be required to get a medical test done as per the requirement of the institute.

Degree wise Admission Process

BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery): The Purvanchal Institute of Dental Sciences offers the BDS course as a five-year full-time course of in-depth oral health care training. The admission to the course is on the merit of the candidate in NEET. The approved strength of the institute for the BDS course is 100 seats. The eligibility for the BDS course is passing 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, and scoring the NEET cutoff.

National Testing Agency has declared the results of NEET 2021 examination.

There are Two different counseling for seat allotment -

All India Quota or AIQ counseling - it happens for 15% seats in Medical colleges all over India. Through this counseling you can take admission in MEDICAL COLLEGE in any state in India.

State Counseling - It happens for 85% seats in Medical colleges in your domicile state. Through this you can get seat in Medical colleges in your Domicile state only.

Now the All India Quota Counseling will take place for 15% seats reserved in medical colleges of all states. The online counseling takes place in 2 rounds only.


NEET 2021 AIQ Counselling process includes-

• Candidates to register themselves on official website of MCC- Medical counseling Committee-

• Fee payment- Re 1000 is to be paid by unreserved category candidates while For SC/ ST/ OBC/ PH candidates, registration fees is Rs 500.

• Choice filling of colleges candidate wishes to get admission in

• Finally seat allotment based on NEET scores, reservation criteria, and the number of seats.

A security deposit of Rs 10,000 also is to be done by students which will be refunded if no college is alloted even after round 2 of AIQ counseling.


Following are the documents that will be required during counseling and original documents are to be produced-

• NEET Admit Card

• NEET Result/Rank Letter

• Class X Certificate and Marksheet

• Class XII Certificate and Marksheet

• 8 passport sized photographs (Same as the one affixed on the application form)

• NEET Seat Allotment letter

• Proof of Identity (Aadhar card/PAN card/Passport/ Driving License)

• Category Certificate (if applicable)


Following are the reservation that are given to the candidates of various categories-

• 10% seat reservation for GEN-EWS candidates, (candidates whose family income is less than Rs 8 Lakh per annum)

• 15% seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste(SC) Students.

• 7.5% seats are reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST) students.

• 27% seats are reserved for OBC-NCL candidates only in colleges run by central government.

• 5% of seats are reserved for Person with Disability PwD. This is a horizontal reservation which means that 5% of all seats reserved for various categories are reserved for candidates with disability from that category.
