Raja Kishore Chandra Academy of Technology, Nilgiri was established in 2008 and it is an affiliated college situated in Balasore in Odisha. The institute is approved from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) thus offers standard technical education. The college is located on 6.67 acre area, it admitted 1258 students and has 65 faculty members. At present, RKCAT has four diploma courses in engineering fields to give students variety when choosing a technical education path.

There are also hostels separately for the boys and the girls, with capacities of more than 200 and 150 students respectively. These hostels provide a cosmopolitan atmosphere and a student population from all the provinces in the country. Apart from the hostels, some of the facilities that are offered by Raja Kishore Chandra Academy of Technology include a gymnasium, internet enabled libraries, yoga and meditation centres. To and from college, the college runs a fleet of buses for the day scholars and staff which ply different routes in Balasore city.

RKCAT having above mentioned courses provide four full time diploma courses in engineering with total period of three years. These are Diploma in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering as well as Mechanical Engineering. The total approved intake for these courses however is 420 with 120 for Civil, 120 for Electrical and 120 for Mechanical while Electronics and Telecommunication have 60 each. These programmes are intended to produce students with a rich knowledge base required for a productive career in the technical world.

It admit students into diploma programmes based on performance in related qualifying exams. RKCAT has a spacious stack-high building to accommodate over 17,000 books, national and international journals, periodicals etc., which functions as a prime study and research centre. It also has a section of physical and sports education where annual sports meet is conducted and there are competitions in between departments and games and sports period is also active. Students become conversant with current technologies as the computer laboratory has the newest hardware and software and is air-conditioned.

The Training and Placement Cell at RKCAT have significant responsibility in grooming the students of the institution for the future jobs. In particular, the cell aims at building up the strengths of the students through a systematic training process. To the second semester of the course, the students undergo training in aptitude skills, reasoning, communication and leadership skills, technical skills as well as interview preparations. This integrated strategy can be expected to improve the employment prospects of the graduates of RKCAT in the labor market.
