Shankarlal Khandelwal Arts Science and Commerce College, Akola Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

The college offers a Women's Hostel Facility to the students who seek admission to granted courses. Girl students from UG courses are provided with a hostel facility. The enrolled female students of our college are eligible for admission to the hostel. The admissions take place on state government reservation criteria and merit basis. The intake capacity is 30 students.

The college has a Gym facility for the students.

The college has a Library which is the 'Brain' of an institution, Thus, we have started an art library that caters to the intellectual needs of our students and staff. A well-stocked and well-furnished library has various e-resources, Journals, Periodicals, etc. It has multimedia resources too, like audio and visual CDs and digital dictionaries. The total number of books in the library is over 16000 along with Network Resource Centre, OPAC, and SOUL software. For faculties, it provides INFLIBNET service as well. Various books for competitive exams like M.P.S.C. and U.P.S.C. Bibliographic and reference books apart from the textbooks, Reprographic service are the main features of the library.

The college has state-of-the-art laboratories for various subjects to boost the research and development in the college and imbibe a scientific research attitude amongst the students of UG & PG Courses. These Laboratories are equipped with the latest equipment and technologies like PC-based Double double-beamed spectrophotometer, Trainacular Stereozone Microscope, Centrifuge Machine, Muffle Furnace, Universal Hot Air Oven, 4 Probe Instruments, etc. The Microbiology Laboratory is an authorized & recommended Laboratory for Doctoral Research.

The college provides a Network Resource Centre established in the college in 2010. We received the recognition of UGC under XI the plan. Under this Scheme, an internet facility is provided free of cost to the students as well as teachers to upgrade their knowledge and improve their learning, teaching, and research activity.

The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminars.

The college looks back with pride on our jewels through the Alumni Association. It functions to maintain liaison with our students and to invite them to their alma mater every year. A separate cell is dedicated to this which enables the students to meet once a year to promote and foster mutually beneficial interaction between the alumni, management, and present students. These jewels are our true treasure which is shining brightly in various sectors & fields. Alumni and parent interaction is also in place. A state-level Elocution competition 'SPANDAN' is organized every year where orators from all over the state participate.

The college has a Free Wi-Fi facility that will be available for students on the campus.

The college has Sports it is human life in a microcosm” Our students have achieved good positions in the realms of sports. We have an independent Department of Sports to develop the sportsman spirit and liking towards different sports. Various sports facilities are made available. A Special Gymkhana service is also in place for faculty and students. Every year our sportsmen grab color coats in different sports. We organize various sports events around the year and even university-level matches and tournaments are also arranged.

The college has a canteen on the premises to provide refreshments to the students and staff members.

First aid is available in the college. Wheelchairs are available for handicapped students. Medical Hospitals are close to the College premises. Doctors' visit is arranged in the College for medical check-up of the students every year.

A separate Parking Facility for Vehicles and Bicycles for Students and Staff members is available on the campus.

The Science Society and Study Clubs for all different subjects are formed every year in the college with the aim to enrich the knowledge of the students regarding Science and other subjects by providing other opportunities to learn besides classroom teaching of prescribed syllabi. Science Society and Study Clubs work to increase the awareness of the students about recent trends and developments in Science and other subjects and the nature of their research attitude. It enhances the awareness pertaining to practical applicability for the betterment of human life. Various activities have been conducted throughout the year such as Science exhibitions, Poster competitions, Seminar & workshop organization, Project presentations, Science quizzes, Elocution and debate Competition, Group discussions, etc.
