Shri Vaishnav Institute of Law, Indore Admission Process

Shri Vaishnav Institute of Law (SVIL) in Indore is the reputed institution imparting legal education in the Madhya Pradesh state. The institute offers a myriad of law programs and is considered to be admitting the candidates most deserving of admission after going through a rigorous selection process. It precedes Bar Council of India approval for imparting high-rated legal education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The entire undergraduate admission process in the SVIL depends upon the score distribution of CLAT. CLAT is a national level law entrance examination conducted for admission to prestigious law schools in the country. Admission to various programs shall be available only for the most meritorious candidates based on their CLAT scores.

SVIL offers four major undergraduate programs: BA LLB (Hons), LLB (Hons), BBA LLB (Hons), and B.Com LLB (Hons). The total intake capacity for these programs is 360 students with different seat distribution for each course. Admission shall, however, be conducted in accordance with the year under review on the CLAT examination cycle.

Application Process

The admission process at Shri Vaishnav Institute of Law, Indore, would include the following steps:

1. CLAT Registration: Candidates must register for and appear in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities.

2. CLAT Examination: Appear for the CLAT exam at the given date. The exam usually consists of subjects like English, Current Affairs, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques.

3. CLAT Result: After the publication of CLAT results, candidates can check their score and rank.

4. Registration for Counselling: If candidates satisfy the cutoff requirements established by SVIL, they can register for CLAT counselling process.

5. Choice filling: While participating in the counselling process, fill in your options for institutes and programs, making sure to list Shri Vaishnav Institute of Law within your preference.

6. Seat Allotment: If allotted a seat in SVIL, proceed with the admission procedure as prescribed by the institute.

7. Document Verification: Bring all required documents for verification. The usual documents include:

  • CLAT Score card
  • Mark sheets and certificates of 10th and 12th
  • Graduation Mark sheets and Degree Certificate (in case of LLM applicants)
  • Category Certificates (if applicable)
  • Migration Certificate
  • Character Certificate
  • Recent passport-size photographs.

8. Fee Payment: Pay the admission fee as required by the institute to ensure reservation of the seat.

9. Orientation: Attend the orientation program to become acquainted with the institute, faculty, and curriculum.

Degree-wise Admission Process

BA LLB(Hons): A five years integrated course having a capacity of 120 seats. The admission will be made on the basis of CLAT score followed by an institute level selection process. Candidates shall have completed 10+2 with a minimum percentage as required as per SVIL norms.

LLB (Hons): The 3-year LLB (Hons) program has an intake of 120 seats for students. Admission is through the CLAT score when further assessment is carried out. Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in any subject from a recognized university.

BBA LLB (Hons): The five-year integrated program has 60 seats of admission. The admission process will be based on CLAT scores and the institute's selection criteria. Relevant subject combination for entrance will be completion of 10+2.

B.Com LLB (Hons): The five-year integrated program with 60 seats takes in students based on CLAT scores followed by an institute level selection. Candidates must complete 10+2 with commerce or in equivalent subjects.

LLM Programs: SVIL provides Specialized LLM's concerned with Business Law, Criminal Law, and Human Rights. These programs have very limited intake of 10 seats each. Admission into these LLM programs would be based on the merit of the applicants in their LLB degree and any entrance tests/interview conducted by the institute.
