St Aloysius College, Alappuzha Facilities Details: Hostel, Campus, Infrastructure, Library, Canteen

College Library is the nerve center of all the academic activities of the college. It provides a place where teachers and students can pursue research and study unhampered by noise or any other disturbance. Its facilities and services exist solely to cater to the needs of the academic community of the college. At present, there are 35100 books and 49 periodicals and magazines in the library. The Library is located on the main campus on the ground floor with a total area of 4679.25 sq. F, with a total seating capacity of 70.  ILMS Software KOHA provides a user-friendly interface. The library facilitates Web – OPAC remote access to users. Subscription to N-List of INFLIBNET provides access to more than 6000 journals and 90,000 e-books.  The Gate Entry Monitoring System system, 4 servers, Question Bank, Open Access Journals, Newspaper clipping Service, and Talking Book are other facilities.

The college of Students and faculty access computers and internet in the various departments, net resource center, and the library. INFLIBNET is also made available in the library. The net resources center has eight computers with a LAN facility and the computer lab has 25 computers. The departments are provided with net connectivity, LCD projectors, and printers. The library has an INFLIBNET N-List subscription which helps e-reading of volumes inside and outside the campus.

The college has a Gym facility for all the students Keeping in view the fitness aspects of the whole community of the college, a gymnasium is set up in the college premises under the physical education department. The multigym comprises several modern types of equipment. Users may avail the facility of its different equipment under the guidance of well trained Physical instructor.

The college has a canteen on the college campus for the benefit of all the students and staff.

The college has sports facilities for all students.

The college has an auditorium facility for events and seminars. The Seating capacity is around 200.

Accommodation facilities are provided for girl students in the 50-bedded women’s hostel with amenities like visitors’ room, perpetual adoration hall, recreation hall, reading room, TV, DVD, dining hall, kitchen, toilets, washing area, space for drying clothes, indoor court, arrayed with beautiful and variegated plants contemplated for holding various functions in the hostel, rainwater harvesting, biogas plant, Internet, telephone, medical emergency facility. Security is posted round the clock at the main entrance and hostel, with an outhouse facility. The hostel is surrounded by a strong high boundary wall with barbed wire fencing.

The college has a departmental-based laboratory facility for the students.
