The infrastructure of the college is best suited for a perfect studying and teaching. Projectors and screens are fitted to every classroom making the whole college a place for smart studying and not making it lag behind the race. The college campus is endowed with football fields, basketball courts, lawn tennis courts etc. Making it a perfect place for sports also.
The teachers of every dept. And the H. O. D. 's mostly are well-qualified and well educated persons selected through a series of difficult exams so that they could handle the students easily. They uses different types of teaching methods rather than smart class. Sometimes we get industry exposure and the students to faculty ratio is around 1:10.
There isn't much placement made before. It's said that most of the teachers and faculty members guides you for further studies outside the country only and not giving placements. Being a college for general lines and some professional courses it does't give much placements.
College life is so interesting
The college provide us with most of our necessities, but room for improvement always have doors as the classroom does not have smart boards and wifi, I greatly felt that the college needs an upgrade on the technologies. The campus as well as the classroom of our college is quite clean and the food provided in the canteen are also hygienic and low cost.
I did my Bachelors in Political science, as the college is the one of the most trusted higher educational institution in North East, and I have heard lots of good deeds about the college from my peers and elders. The quality of the teaching is fairly high. There were frequent update on the curriculum, it helps us to be job oriented but still needs some improvements in terms of teaching.
Placements are not provided from the college, especially in our department which is Political science. But I guess it will be easier for the ex-students who are qualified to apply for jobs such as lecturers or office staff of the college to be selected rather than an unfamiliar face.
The best college i have been too. the infrastructure is top noch, well equiped labs and library. The laboratory is well maintained with all necessary equipment. The college is clean and filled with trees around and garden for students to hang around.
studying BSc Chemistry Honour, As chemistry is the subject which i enjoy the most. The teachers are well educated and friendly in nature, The curriculum is well updated keeping student in mind. The educated you receive is well enough to get the job you need in accordance to the education you receive.
yes there is campus recruitment which is a great thing for student. even i got a job while i was studying in the college. around 60% of the student were placed. The salary given at that time ranges based on the company. the highest salary package was 3L/Annum, while the average salary ranges from 2L to 2.5L/Annum. The placement was easy and pleasent and all because the supportive teacher.
the cost of studying in the college is quite cheap as it is a catholic college. per year i spend around 40 Thousand for the course. Yes keeping in mind the money spend i believe i have receive the education that support it.
the best part of the college is its huge campus area, you have football, basket ball, volleyball and badminton playground great for student while the worst part of it is that you cannot caontinue your master in the same college.
The physics dept. is under DBT Star status scheme, under this new equipments, and good amount of funds are given to the Dept. Every year. Physics students are given proper exposure and experience to decide their interests in the field of physics.
I am studying physics. Its the only college in NorthEast which provides three subject combinations in physics like (Physics with Mathematics & Chemistry), (Physics with Mathematics & Electronics), (Physics with Mathematics & Computer science). It helps the students to learn whatever interests they have whether its Biophysics, Electronics, Computational physics or etc. The students can choose the combination they desire to learn.
I am not aware about placements in the college but i have heard that students gets some jobs and all. Most of the students in the college goes for higher studies. How much i know very less students apply for job after graduation majority goes for higher studies.
My complete course for three years costed me 1 lakh apprx. And the money was worth it the curriculum is engaging and if you wish you can join so many clubs like science club, chess club, book club, art club and etc.... And NCC, NSS and IIC cells are there. And we get a lot of study tours and experimental exposure in the field of physics that's worth everything.
The college campus is very beautiful. It has a lot of cherry blossom trees. In the month of October whole campus is covered under the pink colour of the trees. There are students corners like cafeteria (For coffee breaks), boys common room(For Indoor board games) , girls common room.
St Edmunds college shillong is in close proximity with the school and highschool , therefore it is very spacious. The campus is clean, well maintained and has many trees and plants planted all around. It doesn't have Wifi for the students, a library and laboratories. The cafeterias are small and crowded. But the food is clean and hygienic.
I'm currently studying my Bachelor's degree in Sociology. The teachers are mostly PH.d holders But sometimes it seems that the teachers are least brothered about their own students. Some teachers can really explain well while some teachers no matter how hard they try we just can't seem to understand them.
I don't think are college has any placement cells because I haven't never heard any of the teachers nor students mention it. Our college needs to focus and stress on this because most of us won't know what to do after passing out.
Our course costs about 22000 per year. For 22000 a year I feel like the college could be a bit better. Our college stills lags behind in many things compared to other colleges.
Friends make my campus life better. Their is a coffee shop where most students hang out. We have a football field and basket ball court. We have a college week known as "edblazon" which last for a week. This is one of my favourite time of the year. Where we can truly enjoy our college life.
Many students from all other states In northeast India come to our college to study, So I think it's safe to say that it is one of the most recognised college In Northeast India.
Yes the college has all the necessary infrastructure, Classrooms are quite simple with a projector and screen for presentations, No sports center's and the gym is always closed. We do not have WiFi for students. And the food is clean and the canteens are well maintained.
I'm currently pursuing my degree in Sociology. I would say that the teachers of our department are quite average because they couldn't care less about their own students. I think what we're studying would not make us job ready.
There are no such things as placement in our college. I have not heard of anyone getting a placement out of our college. But I won't be surprised as most colleges in shillong do not give. Students such a thing
About Eleven thousand per semester. I would say not quite my money's worth because with the level of teaching it's not that good.
The campus is quite big. Best feature would be the Auditorium and the playing field. Students going there are very helpful. For the staff I would say no they are just too rude sometimes. And as of the location yes it's very safe and it can handle emergencies as the nearest hospital is only about 5 minutes away and even a police station and a fire station.
Hey there,
Hope you are doing well and keeping great...
So heres your answer...
See right now you dont have worry about you HSSLC i.e., Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate which will be provided by the school authorities as soon as you complete with your boards exam. The certificates will automatically be sent to your respective schools. So dont worry about the current condition just sincerely give your exams be it your boards or pre boards just keep yourself focussed. And just wait for the results after the exam takes place.
