Master of Science (M.Sc) in Physics is a full-time two-year postgraduate degree course, and it is offered by the IK Gujral Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar.

The main objective of the M. Sc. (Physics) Programme is to prepare the younger generation to cope with the emerging scenario in the top level academic and research institutions, and also industries of national importance. The programme aims to train the students with a high level theoretical knowledge enabling them to tackle complex problems in industrial fields as well as to pursue further academic achievements through research. In addition to the core physics subjects, the students can acquire additional expertise in special areas of physics in the final year. During this period, all possible opportunities are created for close interaction with research institutes and industries so as to provide high level training. Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Physics programme is designed to prepare students for a research career in academia or industry by introducing advanced ideas and techniques that are applicable in a wide range of research areas while emphasizing the underlying concepts of Physics. This course provides in-depth understanding of principles and concept of Physics, proficiency in experimentation to understand the theoretical and experimental dimensions of Physics.
