Varanasi College of Pharmacy, Varanasi Admission Process

The Varanasi College of Pharmacy, Varanasi, and is one of the top professional education colleges in pharmaceutical sciences. Approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), the college has all prescribed instruments of admission that discriminate well among students of a higher caliber and excellent motivation for the pharmacy programs.  The admission cycle for Varanasi College of Pharmacy usually runs parallel to the academic calendar of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow, of which it is one of the affiliates. Therefore, students must be prepared to apply in these months leading up to the beginning of the academic year commencing in most years around July or August.

For the B.Pharma program, the eligibility is basically 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Candidates should have at the minimum attained an aggregate of 50% marks in their qualifying examination (45% for SC/ST candidates) or as per the norms of the college. The admissions are made through the entrance examination conducted by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, namely the Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination (UPSEE). This examination forms the basis of entry for all prospective pharmacy students. The UPSEE is usually conducted in April-May period, and results are out in June. 

Application Process

1. UPSEE Registration: The candidate should register for the Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination (UPSEE) through the UPSEE official website. Generally, it involves filling out an online application form and remitting the examination fee.

2. UPSEE Examination: The candidate should appear for the UPSEE examination on a given date. This examination usually comprises subjects including Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology.

3. Declaration of Results: After announcing results for UPSEE, candidates meeting the cutoff criteria enter into the counseling process.

4. Registration for Counselling: Qualified candidates should register for the counseling process on the schedule announced by the UPSEE conducting body.

5. Document Verification: For counseling, candidates are required to bring along the original documents for verification. Such documents typically include:

  • UPSEE Admit Card and Score Card
  • 10th and 12th Mark sheets and Certificates
  • Category Certificate (if applicable)
  • Domicile Certificate (if required)
  • Recent passport-size photographs

6. Seat Allotment: Eligible candidates are allotted seats based on the rank obtained in UPSEE and after verification of documents.

7. Payment of Fee: After allotment of the seat, candidates are supposed to pay the prescribed fee for admission to confirm his/her seat at Varanasi College of Pharmacy.

8. Reporting to the College: The candidate should report to Varanasi College of Pharmacy on the date given after fulfilling all above procedures along with all original documents and receipts for fee payment for completion of the admission process.

Degree wise Admission Process

B.Pharma: The Bachelor of Pharmacy program at the Varanasi College of Pharmacy is having a duration of 4 years on a full-time basis and has an approved intake of 60 students. The admission to B.Pharma is merit-based depending upon the performance of the candidate in the UPSEE. The admission process follows the rules prescribed by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University Lucknow. Eligible candidates must have completed their 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Mathematics.

Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharma): The Varanasi College of Pharmacy also runs the D.Pharma program, which is a 2-year full-time practice under the College with an intake of 60 students. Owing to the lack of specific information regarding admissions to D.Pharma, it is assumed certain admissions for the D.Pharma program might be similar to that for B.Pharma, relying on marks gained in the 10+2 examination and perhaps an entrance examination considered relevant.
