The Vimal Jyothi Engineering College (VJEC) was set up in 2002; the College specializes in Engineering it is situated in Chemperi, Kannur, Kerala state. Present on a 30.1 acre campus, VJEC provides quite a lot of engineering specializations for its students, 2223 in number. The college has a strong cadre of teaching staff of 139 members that enhances the student-teacher ratio. VJEC is associated with the Kerala Technological University and it has got NAAC accreditation among all the institutions. The institution is also recognized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) this just proved its standard on education.

The college provides the entire spectrum of engineering programs and has eleven under graduate B.Tech. courses as well as two post graduate M.Tech. courses. Further, VJEC offers doctoral coursework in most engineering disciplines, detail shown below. The B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering is particularly famous, with the intake capacity of 240. Other sought after programs include B.Tech in Artificial intelligence and data science: Electronics and communication engineering: Electrical and electronics engineering. In total, the University offers 1,511 students across all the programmes, and this shows the role of the university in promoting engineering education in the region.

The admission criteria adopted by VJEC administrative program is set so that to be fair and provide for diversity. Undergraduate programs, 50% seats are opened to the government and 35% for management quota depending on the merit. The balance of the total number of seats is divided between the community quota of 10%, and NRI category of 15%. Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical (KEAM) examination is taken to gain admission to B.Tech courses. For postgraduate programs the admission eligibility criteria is GATE scores or the marks obtained in B.Tech as per DTE norms.

VJEC provide many scholarships to deserving students for them to be able to study with little or no fuss. Out of 10 2023 first year, second year, third year, and fourth year undergraduate students, 310 students were granted scholarship reimbursements that showcase the college’s effort to offer affordable quality education.
