Vimal Jyothi Engineering College, Kannur Admission Process

Vimal Jyothi Engineering College (VJEC) in Kannur has been offering programs of study from engineering to management streams among the richer institutions. The students would undergo the admission process which is comprehensive according to government regulations and those laid down by the Kerala Catholic Engineering College Managements' Association (KCECMA). Thus, all procedures to be carried out by VJEC will ensure fairness as well as diversity in student intake from different programs. Usually, the admission cycle for the B.J.K. will be seen to begin in the earlier months of the academic year around August-September. The college is to make its admissions into undergraduate programs mainly on the basis of such states' entrance examination results, while for postgraduate programs admissions depend on national-level entrance tests such as GATE and state tests like KMAT Kerala.

The primary criterion for eligibility in the B.Tech. courses is successful completion of 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. The college offers a total of 11 B.Tech programs with a combined intake of 630 seats across various specializations. VJEC accepts admission tests which are explained in the entrance exams on the basis of the admission process. For B.Tech programs, KEAM, the Kerala Engineering Architecture & Medical Entrance Examination, is mainly used for admission into B.Tech programs. In general, the exam is usually planned for the month of April, and results are normally announced within months after the completion of the examination. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is the criterion for qualifying for admissions to M.Tech programs, while admissions for MBA candidates are offered based on the Kerala Management Admission Test (KMAT Kerala) scores.

B.Tech courses:

For MBA program:

2. Apply to VJEC as per the announced schedule.
3. Submit graduation certificates, mark sheets, KMAT Kerala score card, and other required documents.
4. Attend any additional selection rounds if conducted by the institute.

For Ph.D. programs:

Degree-wise Admission Procedure

B.Tech: VJEC has a total of 11 B.Tech programs with an overall intake level of 630 seats. Entry into the B.Tech programs is divided into the following categories: - 50% seats are filled on government allotment on the basis of KEAM score. - 10% of seats are reserved for community-based allotment by government. - 15% are reserved for NRI type candidates. - 35% is available under management quota on the basis of merit from the rank list published by VJEC.

M.Tech: The institution offers M.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering and Structural Engineering and Construction Management. Primarily, M.Tech admissions are based on GATE scores followed by B.Tech marks as per the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) directions. The intake for M.Tech programs is relatively small, with 6-12 seats per specialization.

MBA: VJEC's MBA program is designed for 60 seats. Admission for MBA is solely by KMAT Kerala scores. Specific details of the application process are lacking here in, although there usually is an interview process that typically involves the entrance exam score.

Ph.D: VJEC offers Ph.D. programs in all branches of Engineering including Applied Electronics and Instrumentation, Civil, Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication, Mechanical, and Computer Science Engineering. While some areas need improvement, like library resources, overall, Vimal Jyothi Engineering College provides a solid foundation for engineering Students.

Quality of teaching is average. Many teachers when I was studying was just MTech graduated. But they are friendly. The main issue I faced was I was not getting help to understand which field to take as a job because of the curriculum.
