The Vivekananda Institute of Education, Hooghly. The institute is one of the reputed institutions for training a class of excellent educators for the future. It is located in Chandipur village, and the college is an affiliated one running the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE)-approved teacher training programs. The admission process aims to identify deserving candidates for the two primary programs-Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed). D.El.Ed: The Diploma in Elementary Education program has 100 seats as well. Merit is the basis for D.El.Ed admissions, largely subject to government discretion. Selection will generally be based on marks attained in the qualifying examination (usually 10+2) but could also include entrance tests or other selection procedures, as specified by the state government. The elementary education program is for two years in order to prepare students to teach at that level.
