Manipal University’s WGSHA is a constituent college in Manipal, Karnataka, established in 1986. This reputed institute is also called WGSHA Manipal and has set its focus and place in the field of hospitality education. With 641.81 acres of land, WGSHA provides for five distinctive courses in hospitality and culinary arts. It has a student strength of 1391 pupils, and the faculty covers 53 members of teaching staff, and this student/teacher ratio provides personal care and better learning. In all, WGSHA now offers five full-time courses, turning out both undergraduate and postgraduate degree holders. The programmes include the applauded BHM, BA Culinary Arts, MHM, M.Sc Dietetics & Applied Nutrition, and MA Indian Cuisine and Food Culture. A very selective criterion is followed in WGSHA for admission into these courses; hence, only deserving candidates can make it to these programmes. For other undergrad graduate programmes such as BHM and BA Culinary Arts, the entry is merit-based. Some of the programmes admit students based on scores obtained on the Manipal Entrance Test, abbreviated as MET. The MHM, M.Sc. Dietetics and Applied Nutrition and MA Indian Cuisine and Food Culture relevant postgraduate courses have more options of selection. This usually consists of an online form and then a physical interview. The last merit list is made after the qualifying test and the interview conducted for all the candidates applying for the post.
