WGSHA Manipal Admission Process

Welcome group Graduate School of Hotel Administration (WGSHA), Manipal University, Manipal, is one of the most prestigious institutions in the world for hospitality education. WGSHA offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs in hotel management, culinary arts, and related fields. The admission process at WGSHA is designed to select the most deserving candidates who demonstrate a passion for the hospitality industry. The admission cycle of WGSHA starts from October every year, where it opens its applications for MET, the entrance test for the respective programs of the college. The application date for MET 2025 will run from October 14, 2024, to March 15, 2025. MET is held in an online manner; therefore, a candidate can sit for this exam on a convenient date and time of their choice.

Admissions into Undergraduate courses include BHM, BA in Culinary Arts where the process of selections is more based on merit and performance criteria where the short list is formed upon the candidates' performance in 10+2 examinations along with MET scores for post graduate level courses: such as Master of Hotel Management, M. Sc. Dietetics and Applied Nutrition, and M. A in Indian Cuisine and Food Culture admission process. All the short-listed candidates receive an online application for these courses along with a personal interview.

Application Process

The application process for WGSHA varies a little depending on the program:

1. MET is applied through the official website. The dates for applying to MET 2025 are from October 14, 2024, to March 15, 2025.

2. Filling up the online application form with all personal and academic details.

3. Payment of the application fee.

4. Appear in the MET. The exams are online, and students can choose their convenient date and time.

5. Results and merit list for Undergraduate programs that include BHM and BA Culinary Arts on the basis of MET scores and 10+2 performance.

6. Candidates shortlisted for PG programs: MHM, M.Sc Dietetics and Applied Nutrition, MA Indian Cuisine and Food Culture would be called for a personal interview.

7. The last pick for the post graduate program will be taken from the ones eligible on the basis of qualification test and Personal Interview with the candidate.

8. The Provisional Admission Notice will be sent to selected candidates

9. Final admission formalities must be completed with attaching necessary documents along with payment of course fee.

Degree wise Admission Process

BHM (Bachelor of Hotel Management): The admissions to the BHM course will be purely based on merit. The candidate should have passed 10+2 from a recognized board. The selection process includes the candidate's performance in 10+2 results and MET scores.

BA Culinary Arts: Again, the BHM admission process is merit-based. The admissions for BA Culinary Arts are also merit-based. Here again, the selection process depends on the candidate's 10+2 results and MET performance.

MHM (Master of Hotel Management): The process of admission into the MHM program is based strictly on merit. Details regarding other requirements are not specified, though a bachelor's degree from a relevant area and sometimes, an interview.

M.Sc Dietetics and Applied Nutrition: It has an online application followed by a Personal Interview (PI). The final merit list is drawn up based on the candidate's performance in their qualifying examination and the PI.

MA Indian Cuisine and Food Culture: Students have to apply online, after which they undergo a Personal Interview. The student is selected from the merit list prepared from qualifying exam marks and PI performance. Pursuing BHM quality of education is excellent and the faculty are all well versed in their respective fields. Best place to study for hotel management with good placement opportunities and internship options.

I studied Bachelor of Culinary arts. Its a 3 year degree and WGSHA provided a very structured curriculum with a lot of add ons. Faculty was supportive and friendly. They encouraged us to learn more and dive deeper into the curriculum. They taught us HR, marketing, Finance, purchase and control, business communication inspite of pursuing a culinary degree. They also provided city and guilds certification in kitchen production or patisserie. They even conducted WSET wine tasting sessions and provided certification. Even though the course is expensive it's super worth it.

Giving a review to my college was a wonderful experience.
