Women's College, Tinsukia was established in 1966 to act as the beacon of higher education amongst women in Assam. This affiliated college is located on Rangagora Road in Tinsukia and sprawls over an 8.209-acre campus that provides the perfect ambiance for its all-female students. There are a total of 1,037 students enroled and 32 faculty members—so it has a very favorable student-to-teacher ratio. The college has received accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council reflecting its commitment to quality in education.

A number of facilities has been provided in the Women's College, Tinsukia for developing the academic pursuits and personality of the students. At the center of these facilities lies the college library, which stocks over 40,000 books and 11,000 other printed materials. The S.C. Dey Sorcar Memorial Girls' Hostel provides a safe environment for boarders to stay in, hence giving students comfortable living space, particularly those in need of accommodation.

Women's College, Tinsukia offers quite a varied range of undergraduate courses with much emphasis on Bachelor of Arts courses and their different majors. The college offers 15 different undergraduate courses in which the specialised programmes are Bachelor of Computer Applications and Bachelor of Business Administration. In addition, it offers the facility for advanced computer skills in the form of Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications. BA has its distinguished major subjects like Assamese, Bengali, Economics, Education, English, Mathematics, Philosophy, Political Science, Hindi, History, Sanskrit, Sociology, and Home Science. It offers B.Com to students of commerce background with two specialisations, Finance and Marketing. 

The admission process to Women's College, Tinsukia is based on merit and according to the rules framed by the College authority and Government policies. The prospective students are selected based on their academic performance in the qualifying examinations.
