After your 10th grade, you can pick any of the arts or humanities, commerce, or science streams based on your interests for your 10 + 2 and ultimately graduation. This is because you do not have to be a graduate in a certain field to be eligible for UPSC examinations; all you need to be eligible is a graduate in any discipline, therefore you are free to complete 10+2 and graduation in any subject. To be eligible for the UPSC Civil Services exam, one must have a graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised university, as mandated by under the law.
IAS Educational qualification
Bachelor's degree (BA, B.Com, B.Sc, BBA, BCA, B.Tech etc.) with at least one of the subjects notely Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering from recognised or acknowledged university or college.
What you can start doing from 10th onwards is reading daily newspapers for enhancement in your general knowledge and current affairs. Whatever stream you would choose after your 10th, you will have to focus on the subjects so as to strengthen your core knowledge of the subject.
