As for as talk to my about gate exams, two things should be taken into account. One is eligibility criteria for gate exam and other is eligibility for  M.tech admission. As it is concerned about eligibility, students are eligible for appearing gate exam.  Its students choice to appear for which paper.

A non CSE student can appear for CSE paper in gate exam but prior to take any step the students should think about whether they really want to change the stream , and are they capable of doing that? One most important thing regarding it is there is huge competition for admission to M tech in CSE.  Also once students go for CSE branch in hassle and then they are unable to cope up with.
