First of all you let's analyze the exam pattern and syllabus of both exams,
NIFT has CAT, GAT and situational test,
GAT is conducted for two hours in English and HIndi in online home proctored mode, and it has mainly five sections such as
CAT section is of 100 marks, and a total of 3 hours is allotted to the same to evaluate the intuitive, illustration, innovation, design, observation skills of the candidates,
Situation Test has evaluation based creativity, space visualization, color scheme, element composition, etc

On the other hand NIT DAT has two exams that are as follows-
Preliminary which is conducted for three hours in English in pen and paper mode, and it has a mix of subjective and objective answers, there are two sections; section 1 is mcqs based for 30 marks and section 2 is subjective for 70 marks, candidates are evaluated on creativity, knowledge, analysis and visualization,
Mains exam is also conducted for three hours in English for 100 marks, candidates are required to appear for studio test for drawing, sketching, hands on model making, presentations etc, followed by personal interview,
