I am a student of 12 pcm and i want to become ias so which course among b.sc b.a or btech i should do in graduation
Hello Aliza,
Thanks for writing to us. We will be pleased to answer you. You are a student of 12th Standard right? Hope you had great boards and now you are aspiring to be an IAS officer. it looks great as young chaps like you started thinking about their careers from this early age.
You have a science background. It's your choice in which discipline you want to go. Remember it don't go for any subject just for IAS, think about other things also. Don't assume that I am demotivating you as a senior I am just telling you the scenario. What others do is that suppose they thought that BSc will help them to become an Officer. if they fell in the exam somehow they get frustrated and they take wrong decisions. Now your aim will be to do the graduation successfully and start preparing for the exam at the same time. In your graduation days, if you find some time please make use of it by preparing for IAS. I know in the hectics schedule if we get some free time you start resting or indulge ourselves in anything except study. If you are determined to your focus that you will become an IAS officer. Then don't waste the time, understand the exam and start preparing for it as soon as possible. If you do BA then you get some help about the fundamentals, but my dear the exam is not on fundamentals it's more on complex concepts. even if you are from Bsc or Btech background still you will get help in optional paper section (MAINS EXAM). I can assure you BA/BSc/BTech are tough papers to clear. I can say you one thing if your roots are strong you will make it, no matter which stream you are, which background you belong, whatever your condition is. Keep faith in yourself and the Almighty.
Best Wishes for your future! For more queries please comment below or inbox us, we will be happy to help you.

hello aliza khan ,
as to become IAS officer you need to complete graduation now you should complete graduation in less time consuming course because you can study side by side for IAS .
As per your question,You can go for any stream at graduation to become IAS. You can go for engineering, medical, bsc, bcom,ba etc. Just choose that stream won which you have interest. All The Best.
Hope this information is relevant to your question.
Thank you:)
Actually it is nothing like one should take BA, BSc or BTech for becoming an IAS.
Becoming an IAS is a tough job. One has to have an overall knowledge of the entirety. I would recommend to pursue graduation in the field which you like and have interest in because the final interview round for IAS is the place where majority of the candidates get rejected. And if one has knowledge for the subject he loves he might be able to perform better.
One has to have an overall knowledge for becoming an IAS. History, Politics, General Awareness, Geography, a person should be well aware of this.
At the last it depends upon the type of a person the selection is dependent upon. If a person doesn't have a good psyche it is definite that how many times he goes to the interview he won't get selected. It is all important to develop oneself in a good personality with good knowledge.
I hope i was able to help.
If you want to do IAS ,then BA course is good for you as in this course you can get maximum time to put into study.
In BA course you have more time than other aspirants .
My suggestion for you is you should do BA with coaching so you remain focus for IAS , coaching can be offline or online but it helps you to study specific for UPSC exam.
If you have any questions remain than comment below.
Good luck...
