Exam happens in 3 phase - Prelims, Mains and Interview. Prelims contain 2 objective paper - GS (History, polity, science & tech., environment, geography, current affair) and CSAT (Comprehension, Decision making, Maths)
Mains - Total 9 Subjective paper - Essay paper, English comprehension paper, Hindi paper, 4 GS paper, and one Optional paper containing 2 part - I & II
Final Interview - personality test

The UPSE CSE is conducted in three stages: Prelims, Mains and Interview for final selection.
The minimum eligibility to appear for the Civil Services Exam is a gradutae in any discipline.
