Below i am giving the list of colleges which teach aeronautical Engineering in India arranging them according to their ranks.
1.IIT Kanpur.
2.IIT Bombay
3.IIEST Shibpur.
So as you can see to get into aeronautical Engineering in the top two colleges require extreme hard work on your behalf. Certainly havung a rank below 800 in JEE Advanced will help you secure a secure a seat in any of these IITs with this stream.
That would obviously be a dream and a great achievement if you are able to land up in IITs with aeronautics. Best of luck for that.
Now lets come to Aeronautical Enginnering in IIEST Shibpur...It is a relatively new branch here(established in 2010) but the exposure you are going to get here is even quite extraordinary.
If i go by statistics,For the past three years, the opening rank for IIEST Shibpur has selected Aeronautical Enginnering as his/her subject. So the student quality here will be great too. The opening rank for Aeronautical Engineering is 3000 which is equivalent to scoring 240 in mains. And the closing rank is 18900 which is equivalent to 160 in mains. Below 160 in jee mains, U have no chance of securing aeronautics in any govt. college until you are from West Bengal where even 145 us enough to get into aeronautics in IIEST Shibpur.
The department here will also have two sems in IIT Kanpur, so the students here have to live for 8 months in IIT Kanpur to finish their course. So even aeronautics has bright future prospects if u get into IIEST Shibpur.
I hope this answer helps and inspires you.
BEST OF LUCK!!!
