requirements for admissions in canada fo ms
Hello,
The admission requirements for admission to any MS program in Canada include:
1. GRE scores: For most MS programs you will need to submit scores for GRE General test. Generally, a score above 310 will grant you access to a good Canadian college or university. You can also opt for GRE subject tests in Physics, Mathematics etc. if you want to gain an edge over your peers.
2. English Language Proficiency Test scores: Either TOEFL or IELTS scores are preferred by all universities. The minimum score requirement for good colleges is 6.5+ in the IELTS and 90+ in the TOEFL iBT (internet based test).
3. Official transcripts from your previous university: This is required in order for the college to calculate your undergraduate GPA. A GPA of 3+ is usually preferred on a 4.0 scale. GPA conversions are often carried out by the university itself.
4. Statement of Purpose: One of the most important aspects of the admissions material is your SOP or statement of purpose which is generally a 2-3 page or 1000-1500 word essay regarding your motivation, aspirations and why you deserve to be in the program of application.
5. Letters of Recommendation: Each University requires either 2 or 3 letters of recommendation. Always ask people who personally know you and/or your work to submit the letters of recommendation even if you have access to people in higher positions with whom you are less intimate with.
Additionally, in order to gain an upper hand, many applicants to Canadian universities obtain a certification in French or complete a French language course before application.
