Hello aspirant, there is a provision to change your name in 10 and 12 marksheet for all boards including CBSE and state board exams, however there are few conditions which vary according to the board from which you gave your exams. To correct your name first download the application form for correction from official website of the 10 or 12 board exam or you can get the physical copy of application at the office of the board exam. Fill up the form separately for class 10 and 12 with all details required and submit the documents that they ask for proof such as school leaving certificate, admission slip of school etc. Then you have to submit a fees ( 1000 in CBSE) for name correction for both 10 and 12 separately. The board will make necessary verifications from the school and the correction will be done but generally it takes a little time for the entire process about one or two months time.

Procedure of changing/Correction of your name :
AFFIDAVIT
Take the help of a local notary to make an affidavit for name change. You will have to explain the main reason why you want to change your name. Like after marriage some women are given a new name post marriage and she wishes to change it legally, or someone may wish to change it because either it’s too long or difficult to pronounce.
PUBLISH IN NEWSPAPER
Then, you need to publish the change of name in at least two local newspapers. It’s necessary that you publish one in an English daily and one in a regional publication. This is to announce your new name publicly. Don't forget to keep copies of newspaper with you.
GAZETTE NOTIFICATION
Once it’s published, then you should get it notified in the official gazette of the state you live in. This can be done by filling the deed changing name form from the gazette office. Remember to take duplicate copies. Submit the copies to the office for publishing in the Government press for gazette notification.
VERIFICATION
Now your documents will be verified by the Department of Commerce and Transport secretary . And for this, you will need to send
– A letter to the secretary stating that you want to change your name and request him/her to allow you to do that.
– The deed changing name form.
– At least 2 copies of local newspaper, which published your name.
– Attested copy of the affidavit.
– A copy of your present identity (PAN card, voter ID card, passport, etc).
APPROVAL
After receiving approval from the secretary, you will have to submit it to the local gazette office. You will also have to pay a fee for the office to publish it in the newspaper.
After changing your name officially, now you can state the educational institution and inform them about the new name. It would be better to visit the college administration office personally. Once you submit the documents ascertaining the change of name, then after some time it gets registered in your educational certificates.
