Question : The pie chart given below shows the price of 6 different articles. The total price of all these 6 articles is 5040. The price of a particular article is shown in terms of degree concerning the total price of all these 6 articles.
Which of the following statements is NOT correct?
I. The total price of A1, A2, A4, and A6 is 2772.
II. The difference between the total price of A3 and A5 together and the total price of A4 and A6 together is 488.
Option 1: Only I
Option 2: Both I and II
Option 3: Only II
Option 4: Neither I nor II
Correct Answer: Only II
Solution :
The total price of A1, A2, A4, and A6 is 2772.
$\frac{\text{Sum of degrees of A3 and A5}}{\text{Total degrees in the pie chart}}$ × Total price
Total Price = 5040
⇒ Price of A1 = $\frac{32}{360}$ × 5040 = 448
⇒ Price of A2
= $\frac{46}{360}$ × 5040 = 644
⇒ Price of A3=$\frac{132}{360}$ × 5040 = 1848
⇒ Price of A4 = $\frac{50}{360}$ × 5040 = 700
⇒ Price of A5 = $\frac{30}{360}$ × 5040 = 420
⇒ Price of A6 = $\frac{70}{360}$ × 5040 = 980
So, total price for A1, A2, A4, and A6 = 448 + 644 + 700 + 980 = 2772, which is correct
⇒ Total Price for A3 and A5 = 1848 + 420 = 2268
and, Total Price for A4 and A6 = 700 + 980 =1680
⇒ 2268 − 1680 = 588 is not equal to 488
So, statement II is not correct.
Hence, the correct answer is only II.
