Hello Dear,
DASA stands for Direct Admission ofStudents Abroad.
It is an initiative by the Government of India. Only NRIs (Non Resident Indian), foreign nationals and PIOs (Person of Indian Origin) are eligible for the DASA scheme.
DASA requires applicants to write SAT Subject Tests in Physics, Chemistry and Math Level 2 instead of the standard JEE Mains in order to get admission into NITs, IIITs and other premier institutes of India (IITs not included).
But it is not a complete cakewalk. DASA applicants have to pay a sum of 8ooo$ per annum
There are 75 questions in physics, 85 in chemistry and 50 in Math Level 2. You gain 1 point for each correct answer and lose 0.25 for each wrong one. The score you get is then obtained out of 800. A score of 65+ in Physics, 79+ in Chemistry and 44+ in Math Level 2 will mostly get you an 800.
SAT Subject Tests are generally easy if you've got a good grasp on 11th and 12th grade basics in Physics, Chemistry and Math. You don't need any special preparation as the level of questions is below CBSE. Many people even attempt without studying.
The best way of preparing is by solving many sample papers which can be obtained from various guides. The most famous ones being Barron's, Princeton and Kaplan.
The combined maximum score for all 3 subjects is 2400. DASA requires a minimum score of 1440 in order for you to apply. But different colleges have different cutoffs for different courses.
Good luck!
