Iit is for engineering and iim is for management.

From iit you will become engineer if doing btech.

And from iim you can do mba.

IIT

Indian Institute of Technology.

IIT's are for the students who wants to pursue a career in engineering and technology. There are near about 16 IIT's at present in different locations in India. IIT's give an important contribution in the field of technological and social development of the country by preparing world class engineers. Selection in IIT's happens through a joint entrance examination after 12th class.



IIM

Indian Institute of Management

IIM's are known for MBA ( masters in Business administration). It prepares top class managers and businessmen. For getting into an IIM one has to go through CAT(common admission test). This course can only be taken after you're graduated.
