Computer engineering mainly focuses on hardware and software development.

And IT engineering mainly focuses on running production systems that has been already introduced.

Both are good and fastest growing fields of the era.

You would have plenty career options after bachelors degree.

Hope this helps

Goodluck.

There is not much difference between the two.

In most colleges around 75% curriculum is exactly the same.

Computer Engineering jas a few more hardware related courses while IT has an edge on software related subjects.

Placements are almost same for both. Many PSU's and govt. jobs donot allow IT students to sit in placements which is I think is dye to lack of information with these companies. But reputation of IT is better in private sector and maximum jobs are in private sector but not difference also.

Computer students tend to be of higher rank so they tend to have a better expression in the recruiters mind but practically there is not much difference in this aspect too.

You should take Computer Engineering because of its slight better reputation but never compromise your college for Computer since the difference is not very significant.
